Marvel‘s Fantastic Four movie has found its Galactus: Ralph Ineson, an actor best known for roles in Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and the recent theatrical film The First Omen.
The news comes via THR, which does not specify whether Ineson will be playing the Marvel Comics planet eater physically or just the voice — though previous rumors pegged the role as just vocal work.
In the comics, Galactus is a being who was present before the dawn of time. When the Big Bang happened, he survived, only to become large, dressed in purple armor, and filled with an impossible hunger that drove him to consume planets. He is preceded by a herald, who presumably will be Silver Surfer, aka Shalla-Bal, played by Julia Garner in the upcoming movie.
Galactus was introduced in 1966’s Fantastic Four #48, by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, in a multiple-issue arc still considered one of the cornerstone texts of comic book history.
Ineson is also known for his roles as Chris Finch on The Office, William in The Witch, and Chornobyl and The Green Knight. In Game of Thrones he played Dagmer Cleftjaw, and in Harry Potter, Amycus Carrow.
Matt Shakman is directing the movie, which also stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. In addition, Paul Walter Hauser has joined the cast in an undisclosed role. John Malkovich will also play a role per THR, also shrouded in mystery.
Fantastic Four is expected to go into production in the UK in August and hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
