After way too long a wait between Season 1 and Season 2, and a gap between the first half of Season 2 and the second half, Invincible is over for now. So of course, your mind is probably turning towards the next logical question: when is Invincible season 3 coming out on Prime Video?
I’ll spoil the end of the article right here… We don’t know the Season 3 premiere date as of this writing, since Prime Video hasn’t announced it. However, we do have a fair amount of info to go on to speculate about when Invincible Season 3 might be coming out, based on quotes and info from EPs Robert Kirkman and Simon Racioppa.
We’ve already covered this topic a bit in our Invincible Season 2 ending explained. But there’s a bit more we can add. So let’s get into what we know about the possible Invincible Season 3 premiere date.
Is Invincible Season 2 Over? Is There An Invincible Season 2 Episode 9?
First and foremost: yes, Invincible Season 2 is over. Invincible Season 2, Episode 8 “I Thought You Were Stronger” was the season finale of Invincible. There is no Invincible Season 2, Episode 9. So there’s no need to wake up at 3 am ET on Thursday, April 11, 2024, and log into Prime Video to watch a new episode of Invincible, because there won’t be one. You can still wake up at that time and log into Prime Video at that time. I’m not going to stop you. But don’t expect to see Invincible Season 2, Episode 9.
That said! Between Seasons 1 and 2, the team released a special titled Invincible: Atom Eve. Which is technically categorized as Season 202 for some reason on Prime Video. I mention this because it’s entirely possible we might get another special episode between Seasons 2 and 3. However, this would still not be Episode 9, it would be, I don’t know, Season 303? Or something? What are we doing here, folks?
Where Can I Watch Invincible Season 2 Episode 8 Free Online?
In case you do want to get caught up on the season finale, you technically cannot watch Invincible Season 2 Episode 8 free online. However, the episode and all episodes of Invincible are included with your Prime Video subscription. The cost for a subscription is currently $14.99 a month including ads for the full Prime subscription, and $8.99 for just Prime Video with ads. If you want to go ad-free, add (sorry for the pun) an additional $2.99 to that fee.
However! If you do not currently have a Prime Video subscription, you can get a free trial of the service for 30 days, and cancel at any time. When Is Invincible Season 3 Coming? When Is Season 3 Of Invincible Coming Out?
Okay, preamble out of the way, let’s get into the meat of it: when is Invincible Season 3 coming out? Again, I want to emphasize there is no confirmed date from Prime Video for when Invincible Season 3 will come out. However, let’s lay out a little info for a healthy guesstimate.
Normally when we speculate about these things, the first thing you want to do is take a look at previous release dates and production schedules. That is unfortunately not very helpful here as there was an enormous gap with Invincible. Let’s lay out the continuity anyway, though.
Robert Kirkman first signed a deal with Amazon to develop multiple series for the streamer in 2017. By 2018, it was announced they were working on an animated version of his Image Comics property Invincible, while simultaneously working on a live-action movie. Three years later, Invincible Season 1 was finally released and streamed weekly from March 25, 2021, to April 29, 2021.
This is, by the way, not out of the ordinary. Production schedules vary, but a rule of thumb is two years to produce a new season of an animated show. That’s versus the year or less number I’d usually throw out for a live-action series. And the first season of any show takes longer, as a lot needs to be set up behind the scenes.
However, that’s when we get to the gap. Atom Eve was released on July 21, 2023. And Season 2 streamed from November 3, 2023, through November 24, 2023; then March 14, 2024, through April 4, 2024.
Normally I would throw out there that we won’t get Invincible Season 3 until 2026, given the gaps. But we’re almost definitely going to get it way sooner than that, and I’ll explain why.
First of all, Amazon picked up Invincible for Seasons 2 and 3 in April of 2021. That means the team was able to work “concurrently” on both seasons, as Kirkman revealed to Variety. In other interviews, Kirkman and fellow EP Simon Racioppa have discussed how the gap will be “very reasonable” between the two seasons.
So given all that, when could Invincible Season 3 premiere? At the very latest, I’d say Fall of 2025, but I think it’ll be sooner than that. While that means we get a season a year, and leaves plenty of time to finish Season 3, it’s still a pretty wild gap between Season 2 and Season 3. Moving our timeline to, say, March of 2025 gives a year between the end of Season 2 and the beginning of Season 3, which is far more likely.
However, I’m going to throw a wild guess out there and say that Invincible Season 3 might premiere as early as November 2024. While that’s extremely soon after the end of Season 2, it could help the show get on an “every Fall” type schedule. Presuming Amazon picks up the series for Seasons 5 and maybe even 6 next, we could see a new season of Invincible released once a year, in October or November. Particularly with fellow Prime Video superhero series The Boys anchoring the Summer slot, spacing these violent comic book shows out could make a lot of sense from a programming perspective.
Again, pure speculation here. But to break it down once again: some time in 2025 is the safe bet; November 2024 is the wild speculation, given how far along they seem to be on Season 3. Either way, you know the premiere date will be…
