Feral #1 Advance Review:

After the runaway success of Stray Dogs, the team is back together for a story best described as The Walking Dead, but with Don Bluth-style cats.

“I didn’t want to read it because I’m scared,” offered host Pete LePage. “Stray Dogs was insane. It was twisted and f**ked up. But it was drawn so lovingly, and so cute and adorable… So I was very nervous about this going in. But you can’t say enough about the art, really so cute in a mischievous way… Also really great backmatter, love the cat letters and touching in memoriam. This is tense, but enjoyable.”

Justin Tyler agreed, saying, “This is great… It is a great follow up, the way that these books that [Tony Fleec] has done really capture cuteness but have dread right underneath in the story is really hard to do. It’s almost like a little magic trick. To do a similar magic trick twice is exceptionally difficult. And this feels like it is very much on board.”

Alex Zalben called the book “a genius idea, perfectly executed, both from the writing and the art perspective. Another big win for this team. And this is, as they talk about in the backmatter, an ongoing series which is different from Stray Dogs. I have no idea where they’re going to go with this, and I am really excited to follow this book.”

Feral #1 hits stores on March 27 from Image Comics.
