Power Pack: Into The Storm #1 Review:

The original creative team is back on Power Pack for a new story set after the original series. Power Pack is on vacation with Franklin Richards. And meanwhile, in space, a Snark and a Kymellian are teaming up.

“I absolutely love this and I know I’m in the bag for it anyway,” said host Alex Zalben. “I really liked the inking and coloring… It took that classic Power Pack look and brought it into the modern era, which was absolutely lovely… But conversely, I will say reading this, I was struck by, this is for somebody who read Power Pack forty years ago. If you have not read it in the intervening time… Sorry.”

Continuing on this thought, when host Justin Tyler took exception to how the Fantastic Four was treating Franklin Richards, Zalben noted this is straight out of the John Byrne era of Fantastic Four.

“I love that Fantastic Four,” Zalben said. “I still get kind of frustrated that Franklin Richards is not the age that he is in this book… Franklin Richards is so much more interesting if he has this threat of these overwhelming powers that are going to come out. And there’s only one thing that’s holding him back. I love seeing him interact with the Power Pack.”

Pete LePage felt “the art on this is really impressive because not only does it feel like it has that cartoonish side to it, but also it’s sophisticated.”

Finishing up, Zalbn said “I think we could probably say if you’re a diehard Power Pack fan, you’re gonna love this. Otherwise, I don’t know.”
