We’re rapidly heading towards the premiere of Marvel‘s What If…? Season 2 on Disney+. With less than a week to go (as of this writing), the nine-episode animated event series is shaping up to be a blast and a half as it continues to explore what might have been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
But you’re not here for me blathering on… You want to know more about the Marvel What If Season 2 episodes. Good news, we’ve got a whole guide for you below. From when to watch What If…? Season 2, to everything we know about the episodes, let’s get into it.
When Does What If…? Season 2 Premiere On Disney+?
What If…? Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on Friday, December 22. Normally, new shows will drop at Midnight PT / 3 am ET, so the first episode of Season 2 should be live then. We’ll get into the interesting and unique season roll-out in a second, but suffice it to say that whenever you’re looking for a new episode of What If…?, that’s the time schedule. One episode will be released at a time.
How Many Episodes Are In What If…? Season 2?
There are nine episodes in What If…? Season 2, the same as Season 1. Funnily enough, though, one of the episodes in Season 2 was made for Season 1, but wasn’t done in time for the season’s release, so was shifted to Season 2. More on that in a second, too.
What Episodes Are In What If…? Season 2?
As of this writing, we only have episode descriptions for two of the nine episodes, thanks to a press screening that happened earlier this week. But, thanks to Marvel’s Instagram, we actually know all of the episode titles. So here’s the complete rundown, including some additional info we know about the episodes:
Episode 1: “What If… Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?”
Official Synopsis: In a world where Ronan deposes Thanos long before the events of “Infinity War,” Nebula is recruited to join the Nova Corps. Desperate to escape her father’s shadow, she sets out to prove her detective chops.
Episode 2: “What If… Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?”
Episode 3: “What If Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?”
Official Synopsis: When Justin Hammer lays siege to Avengers Tower during the annual holiday party, there’s only one person left on site to stop him—Happy Hogan. But in setting out to prove his hero chops, Iron Man’s errand boy may end up transforming himself in more ways than one.
Episode 4: “What If… Iron Man Crashed Into The Grandmaster?”
Not a plot description, but this is the episode that was supposed to be the tenth episode in Season 1, but got shifted over here.
Episode 5: “What If… Captain Carter Fought The Hydra Stomper?”
Episode 6: “What If… Kahhori Reshaped The World?”
This is based around an entirely original character named Kahhori who discovers the Tesseract in pre-Colonial America. Pure speculation here, but based on footage shown it looks like Kahhori’s power is to open portals.
Episode 7: “What If… Hela Found The Ten Rings?”
Episode 8: “What If… The Avengers Assembled In 1602?”
Another note here, this is presumably based on Marvel 1602 by Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert. However, Gaiman has said he has no involvement in the episode.
Episode 9: “What If… Strange Supreme Intervened?”
What If…? Season 2 Premiere Dates And Episode Guide:
Sounds fun, right? But when can you watch it? The weird way Marvel and Disney+ are rolling out these episodes is one per day, over the holidays. So the answer is: pretty much non-stop.
