Courtney Whitmore is Stargirl, created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder. The character was based in part of Johns’s sister, who passed away in a plane crash years earlier. The character is a legacy of various DC characters, including Stripsey and Starman. She started as a young hero battling evil in Blue Valley, and has branched out to become one of the breakout stars of DC Comics. She’s also become a key member of the Justice Society of America.
On TV, Courtney was played by Brec Bassinger on The CW series, which ran for three seasons.
