‘The Boys’ Reveals Webweaver, Its Twisted Version Of Spider-Man

Webweaver The Boys Season 4

The Boys is going fast and furious in Season 4, introducing new Supes left and right. But in nearly every episode so far, they’ve been teasing one particular Supe: Webweaver, The Boys‘ twisted version of Spider-Man. And not only that, we now know Webweaver will be showing up for the first time on screen (officially) in next week’s episode, Season 4, Episode 6 “Dirty Business.”

So who is Webweaver on The Boys? What about the comic book source material? And who is Dan Mousseau, the actor who plays him? Read on for all that info, and more. Not much more, though.

Who Is Webweaver On The Boys?

The first we heard about the Supe was in a chyron (the little writing at the bottom of the screen) in “Department of Dirty Tricks,” where we discovered the Supe had been released from a Global Wellness Center. Then in “We’ll Keep The Red Flag Flying Here,” when Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) is playing Vought’s Tournament of Heroes game, Webweaver is seen as a playable character on screen.

The most prominent mention of the character, though, was in “Wisdom of the Ages.” In the episode, if you’ll recall, Butcher (Karl Urban) asks Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) for $50,000. We don’t get to see what happens with it, but they do talk about giving Webweaver a heroin enema in exchange for info on Firecracker (Valorie Curry). That info? She slept with a 15-year-old boy.

However, the first look at Webweaver in costume came from the weirdest source possible. Tying into the V52 Expo sequence as seen on “Beware The Jabberwork, My Son,” the X (formerly Twitter) account known as Discussing Film faux-live tweeted the “announcements at the event. Their “coverage” ended with the reveal of the first look at Webweaver, and the tease that he will be “making his first public appearance next Thursday.”

The Boys episodes stream on Thursday, ergo, Webweaver will be showing up on “Dirty Business.” I’ll let you extrapolate what that means based on the title of the episode, and what we already know about the character. He also will reportedly appear in the following episode, “The Insider,” as well.

Who Is Webweaver In The Boys Comic Books?

As usual, this is far from a one-to-one adaptation of the comic books by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. That’s partially because Webweaver never actually appeared in the original series. That run concluded in 2012, and Webweaver wasn’t introduced until the epilogue series The Boys: Dear Becky, with art by Russ Braun, was released in 2020.

In that miniseries, as Hughie works up the courage to marry Annie, he receives Billy Butcher’s diary, written to his wife Becky. It details the creation of The Boys, and Webweaver was a key part. Specifically, his death.

While investigating the web-slinging “thwipster,” as The Legend refers to him, Butcher and Mallory end up killing The Supe in order to prove they can — and prove to the government that a team of Supe killers is viable. So RIP, Webweaver, without you The Boys would never have formed.

While his exact powers are unknown… He’s Spider-Man. So he has Spider-Man powers.

Who Is Dan Mousseau, The Actor Who Plays Webweaver?

Born June 28, 1993, Dan Mousseau is a Canadian actor best known for his roles in Workin’ Moms, Heroes Reborn, Tempted by Danger, and more.

He’s also a legit stage actor who was recently Dora nominated as part of the ensemble in the Soulpepper Theatre Company’s production of Wildwoman.

You can join his 1.5k followers on Instagram, which I’m guessing will jump up a bit once everyone sees him on The Boys.
