The book is set in a world where superheroes are powered by a substance called Compound V. It gives them fantastic powers and also turns them into deviant jerks.
Enter Hughie, Butcher, and the rest of The Boys: an organization devoted to shutting down and exposing superheroes for what they really are.
The comic book series has been adapted into a hit TV show on Prime Video. That has spun off into the animated series Diabolical, and the live-action series Gen V.
