Deadpool is a Marvel Comics character created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, first appearing in New Mutants #98 in February of 1991. Born Wade Wilson, the character was recruited by the Weapon X program and trained to be an unstoppable fighter with an incredible healing factor. Unfortunately, Wade also had his mind broken and is a non-stop joke machine who often breaks the fourth wall… He knows he’s in a comic book, much to the confusion of other characters. Despite not being a mutant, he’s often seen appearing in X-Men and related comic books.
Since his introduction, he’s been featured in dozens of comic books, including several iterations of his own title. He’s also been portrayed on screen by Ryan Reynolds in soon-to-be three blockbuster Marvel movies. And he’s also appeared in video games, and in animation.
