Back in 2025, instead of dropping a new Superman trailer during the Super Bowl, DC Studios instead opted to tie the appearance of Krypto the Superdog in with the Puppy Bowl… And while the Krypto-focused footage in the Puppy Bowl from the movie wasn’t much more than we had seen from the main trailer, it was still — more importantly — cute. And now, in 2026, they’re doing it again as the Milly Alcock-starring Supergirl, and a litter of super-puppies, have taken over this year’s Puppy Bowl.
In this case, the promo took the form of Alcock playing with a group of puppies from the Best Friends Animal Society who are ready for adoption. That ties into the overall mission of the annual Puppy Bowl, which finds rescue dogs and adoptable pups running around and playing on a mock football field. But interestingly, it’s a different litter of puppies than the one DC announced about a week ago, a collaboration with Guide Dogs of America for five future guide dogs all named after DC Comics characters: Krypto, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Kara Zor-El, and Lobo. Missed opportunity to have Alcock meet Kara, her canine compatriot, but c’est la vie.
And as for in the Puppy Bowl itself, Alcock’s spot happens about 11 minutes and 21 seconds in, as she talks about the “unbreakable bond” Supergirl and Krypto share in the movie, thanks to them both surviving the destruction of their planet. While there’s not a ton of new footage shown off, we do get to see Krypto knocking over a bottle on a record player, avoiding sparks, and a little more of what looks like Supergirl in a bar fight, flying off at the end.

Far weirder, though, is the context of the tie-in. I’m going to get into potential spoilers for Supergirl here, but in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, the comic the movie is based on, the action kicks off when Krypto is shot with a poisoned arrow and left to die. So Supergirl heads off throughout the galaxy to get vengeance on the man who seemingly killed her faithful pup, Krem of the Yellow Hills (played in the movie by Matthias Schoenaerts). Don’t worry: Krypto is fine by the end of the book, so if the movie follows the plot he’ll be alive to drive Superman (David Corenswet) up the wall again in Man of Tomorrow. But still: a little weird to tell puppy fans to check out your movie where a puppy seemingly dies for most of the running time.
The bigger question for superhero fans is whether we got a trailer for Supergirl during the Puppy Bowl. And the answer is… No, sorry. Same as last year with Superman, it’s clips expanding on the main teaser for the movie; not a full, new trailer.
Hey, that’s okay… You can watch Alcock play with puppies, below:
