Original ‘Ben 10’ Creators Reunite For “Ultimate Or Absolute” Style New Dynamite Comic Book Series

Ben 10

The men of action are back in action, as Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau, and Steven T. Seagle, the original creators of Ben 10, are reuniting for a brand new comic book series from Dynamite.

Originally announced way back in 2024 at San Diego Comic-Con, we haven’t heard a lot about the Ben 10 comic book series since then. But now, look at this: you’re hearing something, and it’s that Man of Action Entertainment (MOA), a crew of dudes who started in comics and made it big in animation, are coming back to comics. Sure, several of them never left — Joe Kelly, for example, is the writer on Amazing Spider-Man for Marvel, and Casey is writing several titles for Dynamite.

But now they’re back on the series that made their name(s).

Ben 10 is obviously very close to our hearts, and has been for the last twenty years,” said Casey, who will be the first writer from MOA to take on the comic series. “So we’re psyched to finally present a vision of Ben and his mythology in the manner and format that we’ve always wanted to see. This is basically a straight-up superhero comic that’s going to compete with every major series out there. This is “Ultimate” or “Absolute” Ben 10. We guarantee, this is the best that Ben 10 has ever been.”

Casey has already been working with Dynamite and Warner Bros. Global Consumer Products on series like Jonny Quest and Space Ghost. Now he’ll be joined by artist Robert Carey, alongside the rest of MOA who will, per PR from the publisher, “creatively drive the stories, with individual partners stepping forward to provide future scripts at different points during the series.”

So, what is Ben 10 about? The original series, which ran for four seasons and 49 episodes, and spun off into multiple continuations and even several films (including in live-action), focused on Ben Tennyson, a kid who discovers the Omnitrix… Basically, a watch-type device that allows him to transform into various alien characters.

That’s the gist, and it won’t change for the new series. What will change though is… Everything else. Described as a “straightforward, action-oriented approach,” Dynamite cautions that while “The beloved animated series exists for fans who grew up with it and for future generations to continue discovering it. This comic series will update the concept for modern audiences, while of course being drawn with the boundless potential of the comics form, opening up a wider range of tones to tap into, from the emotional to the surreal, across drama, comedy, and tragedy.”

So yeah, it’s an updated origin story that will take a look at how Tennyson’s discovery would “truly impact the world around” him. Over the course of the series, Man of Action will “recontextualize the greatest hits and coolest components of previous iterations, honing it down to its most perfect presentation. They will expand and add to the recipe, with a thoughtful approach to continuity in the vein of classic superhero comics, rewarding both grown up fans of the original shows, as well as younger readers who have never met Ben, his cousin Gwen, Grandpa Max, fearsome foes like Vilgax, all of the powerful aliens of the Omnitrix, and countless other fun parts of the world!”

Basically, as Casey says, thinks Ultimate Ben 10 or Absolute Ben 10 — for our comic book fans in the crowd — and you get the idea. As for more details including pesky things like “release date”? Right now, we know that the series will launch in February of 2026, with looks at the art and more reveals to come.
