Goosebumps Illustrator Tim Jacobus Tackles Garage Fear Comic For Jason Kelce:
Tim Jacobus, the legendary illustrator known for his over 300 Goosebumps covers and illustrations, is headed to the garage with Jason Kelce. Specifically, Garage Beer for a new takeover of the Kelce-fronted beer line for a campaign called Garage Fear that includes a comic book, an animated short, and of course, themed beer cans.
In the campaign, which will take over limited-edition 12-packs of Garage Beer (both original and lime), Jacobus depicts Garage Beer co-owner Jason Kelce being menaced by a “bloodied, masked companion” who may or may not also be named Jason. Probably not for legal reasons, though.
Alongside the beer, there’s also an adult comic book titled Garage Fear: The Cursed Can, which is limited to 100 copies and will be available this month, only on sale through Garage Beer’s merch site. In the comic, the last beer is up for grabs in Jason Kelce’s garage — but unfortunately for him, monsters invade and chaos ensues.
Said Jacobus, “It was a blast to take the classic, oozing, slimed cover formula and conjure up a nightmare where Jason Kelce is fighting for the last beer while defending the haunted garage! Totally ridiculous concept… but, I can honestly say, I’ve been in worse places to get a beer!”
And if all that wasn’t enough, there will be a an animated adult short featuring both Kelce brothers released in September, 11×17 posters available of Jacobus’ original art, and even a Garage Fear pop-up haunted house in St. Louis, Missouri at Field of Screams.
Kieron Gillen And Stephanie Hans Return For Die: Loaded:
As previously reported and now confirmed by Image Comics, Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans’ hit RPG-inspired series Die will return with a sequel story titled Die: Loaded. Missed opportunity to title it Die: Harder, but what are you going to do?
Said Gillen, “DIE was created by us to talk about fantasy and reality, for as long as we have stories to tell. Suffice to say, we do, and DIE: Loaded exactly how much else we have to share, to delight, move and horrify you. Plus it’s also important for DIE that we give other people a chance to tell their stories. It’s why we wrote the RPG, and with the Quickstart, we want to let even more people in on the party.”
In the new series, things pick up after the end of Die #20 (you get it) with the players of the game reunited for Chuck’s wake. They’re finally back in the real world, instead of the fantasy world of their deadly RPG game — but it seems like the game isn’t quite done with them yet.
Alongside the new series, Image will release The Die RPG Quickstart Game Guide, which will get you right into the non-killer game in the real world. The set includes everything you need to play except dice and friends. Good luck on the latter, you nerds.
Die: Loaded #1 hits stores on November 12.
Marvel Bundles Age Of Apocalypse One-Shot:
This year is the 30th anniversary of Age of Apocalypse, the classic X-Men crossover. And alongside the X-Men of Apocalypse miniseries and the spiritual sequel event Age of Revelation, Marvel will also be bundling some classic tales into a one-shot.
Titled X-Men: Tales from the Age of Apocalypse, the one-shot will collect Astonishing X-Men #1, Factor X #1, Weapon X #1, and Amazing X-Men #1.
The oversized issue will feature a new cover by Paco Medina, as well as those stories from 30 years ago by Larry Hama, Scott Lobdell, Fabian Nicieza, Kuberts Andy and Adam, and more.
Tales from the Age of Apocalypse #1 will hit stores on November 12.
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And after Die: Harder they could have done Die: With a Vengeance and just continued from there. Too bad!
