This is Comic Book Club News for June 10, 2025.

Diamond Comics Distributors Is Worth Negative $5 Million As Of April:

Diamond Comics Distributors is bankrupt, so it’s not too much of a surprise that they’re a bit in the hole, financially. But how in the hole are they? According to ICv2, as of April, over negative $5 million.

Even worse, in January, the company was worth $5.7 million, and by the end of April, it was worth negative $5.2 million, meaning a nearly $11 million drop in three months. April was also the month when there was a ton of turmoil over the Diamond sale, though it ended up getting split between Ad Populum and Universal Entertainment.

The main issue here is that Diamond still owes a ton of money to a ton of companies — money that it seems pretty clear they may now never be able to pay back. More on this as it develops.

Helen Of Wyndhorn Gets Deluxe Edition:

If you’ve ever wanted to get Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Helen of Wyndhorn with a side of fries, tomato, and lettuce, well, you’re going to have to keep waiting. Instead, Dark Horse‘s new Helen of Wyndhorn Deluxe Edition comes in a brand new slipcase, along with bonus materials.

Also featuring colors by Matheus Lopes and letters by Clayton Cowles, the book has been nominated for seven Eisner Awards, including Best Limited Series, Best Writer, Best Penciller and Inker, Best Coloring, Best Lettering, and Best Cover Artist. And in honor of the nominations, the publisher will release all six issues in a new hardcover volume, with a ribbon bookmark. The edition also features a sketchbook section, and bonus art by Walt Simonson, Greg Smallwood, Clay Mann, Elsa Charretier, Tula Lotay, Massimo Carnivale, Fabio Moon, and Jill Thompson.

Helen of Wyndhorn Deluxe Edition will hit bookstores on February 24, 2026 and comic shops on February 25, 2026, with a price tag of $59.99.

Aethon Books Buys Vault Comics:

Aethon Books, a publisher of sci-fi and fantasy, has purchased a majority interest in Vault Comics.

Per Forbes, while financial details of the deal were not disclosed, the two companies have been strategic partners for a while — and now they’re making it official.

Said Aethon CEO, Rhett C. Bruno, “Since we met the team at Vault, we have shared a vision of creating a one-stop-shop for the next generation of market-leading fantasy and science fiction authors and their stories. By joining forces with Vault, we believe we are one step closer to that dream.”

Vault is best known for their collaborations with musical acts, including Metallica, Def Leppard, The Beach Boys, and, coming up, Post Malone’s new book Big Rig, which got a preview on Free Comic Book Day. The better news is that Vault’s management team is staying in place, and there are no plans to change the current strategy of the company — this just gives them more cash to play with, so perhaps the rare good story in comics? Stranger things have happened!

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. The other question is whether you want to get Helen of Wyndorn well done, or medium rare, but I’ll leave that up to you.
