Street Sharks Returns From IDW In New Comic Book Series:

Proving that nostalgia knows no bounds, Street Sharks is back in a brand new comic book series from IDW. First debuting in 1994, the fin-tastic heroes also inspired a Mattel action figure line — and now they’ll anchor a miniseries written by Stephanie Williams with art by Ariel Medel.

In the series, the Street Sharks are protecting Fission City from “a range of gene-slammed threats, including super-strong and monstrous lobsters and squids, and diabolical mad scientists that transform into vicious piranha monsters.” A provided press release promises that the Sharks will ride motorcycles and eat burgers, which is different than the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who ride skateboards and eat pizza.

As of this recording, there’s no word whether the Dino Vengers will also show up, but that would be pretty jawsome. Street Sharks #1 of 5 will hit stores in September.

David Marquez To Write And Draw The UnChosen For Image Comics:

David Marquez’s art on Uncanny X-Men has been a hit. And now he’s ditching Famous Online Troll Gail Simone (just kidding, she rules) for the new Image Comics series The UnChosen, which Marquez will both write and draw for Image Comics.

In the new series, a 13-year-old named Aida wakes up in a devastated city — only to discover she caused that devastation. Now she’s being chased by forces who want to control her, while she needs to discover what these powers are and where they come from.

Said Marquez via press release, “Action. Magic. Drama. The UnChosen is the comic I couldn’t find—so I made it! A high-octane fusion of fantasy, sci-fi, and superheroics with bold world building and big stakes.”

The UnChosen #1 hits comic book stores on July 9.

SPOOPS Celebrates Halloween Early:

It’s time to break out the spoopy pumpkins and creepy ghosts, as Top Shelf has announced SPOOPS: The Little Spirits of Halloween, a new book by AJ LoCascio (aka Gambit from X-Men ’97) and Laurie A. Conley.

In the book, a girl named Holly Hollowell loves Halloween — but her parents hate it. So she’s inside while everyone is having fun, until the adorable little Spoops arrive to help Holly show her parents the true meaning of the holiday.

Said LoCascio via a press release, presumably in a Cajun accent, “Halloween is my absolute favorite time of year and Spoops have become a way of expressing that love all year round. I started sculpting them for myself, but when I posted pictures of them online, other people wanted Spoops of their own… and before I knew it I had hand-made thousands of little Spoops for fellow Halloween enthusiasts all over the world! So many adults and children wanted to know more about these little Halloween spirits, and that is how the book came to be!”

SPOOPS: The Little Spirits of Halloween hits stores on September 2, 2025.

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And of course, Street Sharks are also totally different from Battletoads, who ride on speeder bikes and eat flies.
