Jason Howden’s Deathgasm is a wild, cult film that mixes disgusting gore, big laughs, and heavy metal into a potent brew. There’s a sequel movie coming, Deathgasm II: Goremageddon… But before that, you can check out Deathgasm 1.5: Director’s Cut, a new graphic novel prelude to the film, heading to Kickstarter. And Comic Book Club has your first, exclusive look at the NSFW cover from Preston Asevedo.
“Between the events of DEATHGASM 1 and DEATHGASM 2 was a story that I needed to tell,” said Jason Howden via a release provided to Comic Book Club. “The story was so visually epic, so gory, and so offensive that it could never be filmed without watering it down. Instead, we made it into a graphic novel: DEATHGASM 1.5. We’re stoked for fans to witness Brodie and Medina slashing demons and thrashing metal riffs, meeting old mates and an ageless evil that lurks in the shadows of a heavy metal-hating church!”
The 80-page graphic novel comes from writers Howden and Peter Bune, artist Industrias Lamonicana, colorist Zac Atkinson, and letterer Jeremiah Lambert. It also features additional contributions by writer Michael Schwartz and Joshua Viola, as well as cover art by Skinner, Preston Asevedo (which you can see below), and Matthew Therrien.
Not only will Deathgasm get a graphic novel, it’s also getting a video game from Bit Bot, featuring nine levels inspired by Dante’s Inferno (as well as, presumably, Deathgasm).
