Baby Garfield Is Coming From BOOM! Studios:
As has been foretold in the scriptures: Baby Garfield is coming.
The new BOOM! Studios series focuses on a series of “firsts” for the classic cartoon cat, from his first word to his first hairball. Why does he hate Mondays and love lasagna? Perhaps we’ll find out.
The first issue of the four issue series will feature stories by Grace Ellis and Asia Simone, and Michael Northrop and Rob Justus. Later issues will feature Ben Clanton, Stephanie Cooke, Jordan Morris and many more.
Baby Garfield #1 hits stores on March 18, 2026.
DC Reveals Free Comic Book Day Books:
Free Comic Book Day may be split in two this year, but DC Comics ended up in the regular ol’ Free Comic Book Day portion in the Diamond Divorce of ’25. Or, put more simply: DC has announced the four books they’ll be giving out in stores on Free Comic Book Day 2026, including a look at three highly anticipated Next Level titles.
The four samplers are: DC: Next Level, Aquamanatee, DC x Sonic the Hedgehog, and The Nice House on the Lake. In addition to being available in shops (where participating), the four sampler issues will also be available on the DC Universe Infinite service on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
What can one expect in the issues? The DC Next Level FCBD 2026 Sampler includes looks at three upcoming series: Batwoman by Greg Rucka and DaNi; Lobo by Skottie Young and Jorge Corona; and Deathstroke: The Terminator from Tony Fleecs and Carmine Di Giandomenico. Of note, while those series are currently upcoming, they’ll already be on stands and into their runs by the time FCBD rolls around: all three will release first issues in March.
In fact, everything DC is putting out are reprints. But hey, they’re free, so who cares?
Barry Windsor-Smith Marvel Work Gets Collected:
Barry Windsor-Smith’s Marvel comics are getting collected in three volumes by Fantagraphics.
Per ICv2, this is the kick-off of a new series of reprints titled “Marvel Creator Collection.” In this case, the first volume will be titled The Marvel Creator Collection No. 1: “Back to the Savage Land” Barry Windsor-Smith at Marvel Vol. 1, and will include stories from Avengers, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and with Gerry Conway on Ka-Zar’s Savage Land.
The over-sized volume will run 352 pages, and go on sale on April 28, 2026. The contents of the other two volumes have yet to be announced, but it’s likely future collections will include Weapon X, and/or the two-part X-Men story “Lifedeath.” I mean come on, what else are they gonna do?
