Yesterday (February 13), Hasbro announced they’ll be embarking on an “apology tour” for that whole “killing Optimus Prime” thing that happened in 1986’s The Transformers: The Movie. And Skybound and Image Comics are getting in on the action with The Transformers: The Movie Deluxe Edition, a new hardcover collection of the two comic book adaptations of the epic film.

“THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE hit like a lightning bolt, anyone who’s seen it (including me!) has at least one moment forever burned into their memory,” said Senior Editor Nachie Marsham via press release. “Reprinting both the original and the 20th anniversary adaptations in this new volume is a great way for folks to experience it all over again!”

The new edition features a new cover by Sean Gordon Murphy, and includes both The Transformers: The Movie #1 through #3 from Marvel Comics, and The Transformers: The Animated Movie #1 through #4 from IDW. That means it includes work from Ralph Macchio and Bob Budiansky, artists Don Perlin, Ian Akin, Brian Garvey, and Don Figueroa.

The Transformers: The Movie Deluxe Edition will hit comic book stores on August 12, 2026, mere days after the 40th anniversary of the movie, and book stores on September 8, 2026.
