Here’s a good sign for the future prospects of DC Vertigo: the Deniz Camp written, Stipan Morian drawn zombie book Bleeding Hearts #1 is heading back for a second bite. Or to be more specific, the first issue is getting a second printing.
To be even more specific, the second printing, per DC, is based on “strong demand” — nothing in the provided press release says the book has sold out at the distributor level or anything. But it does mean that as the new DC Vertigo line builds over the month and (hopefully) word of mouth spurs on continued sales, a second printing will be available in stores on March 18, right after issue #2 hits on March 11.
Sweetening the deal, the second printing will feature the main cover by Stipan Morian with a newly colored logo, as well as an inks-only version of Nick Dragotta’s variant.
What is the book about? Great question! Here’s the synopsis, per PR from DC, followed by the “new” covers:
In Bleeding Hearts, DC Vertigo returns to the kind of intimate, character-driven horror that defined some of its most memorable titles. The series follows two damaged souls bound by a shared trauma they cannot outrun, drawing them into a slow-burn descent where love, obsession, and monstrosity blur together. As their lives unravel, the story exposes the terrifying truths people hide behind their closest relationships, delivering a haunting, atmospheric debut that lingers long after the final page.
