Jimmy Olsen/Carnage #1… Sorry, Superman/Spider-Man #1 hits on March 25 from DC Comics, mixing up the Superman family characters and Marvel’s Spider-Man family characters. And now, DC has revealed more variant covers for the issue, including a first look at the highly anticipated meeting between Superman’s best pal and Spider-Man’s least favorite serial killer goop monster.
The new covers are highlighted by a tease of this titanic meet-up by artists Steve Lieber and Nathan Fairbairn, which writer Matt Fraction told Comic Book Club last night (February 10) on our live show is titled “Jimmy Con Carnage.” He also gave some insight on how the story came to be, which was essentially DC’s EIC Marie Javins emailing Fraction and asking “Jimmy Olsen and Carnage… What do you think?” Sometimes, comics is just that easy, folks.
Other than that particular team-up, the new covers also include Evan “Doc” Shaner drawing another highly anticipated match-up: the Supermobile meeting the Spider-Mobile. And there are more covers by Mitch Gerads; Rafa Sandoval and Ulises Arreola; J. Scott Campbell; Adam Hughes; Jeff Spokes; Chrissie Zullo-Uminga; Scott Koblish and Hi-Fi; and Jorge Jiménez and Tomeu Morey.
Check out the new covers, including a blank sketch cover, which looks like a white rectangle with a logo on it, below:
