DC Comics gets… Popcorn buckets?

This is Comic Book Club News for February 6, 2026.

Marvel Teases Armageddon Event:

While we’ve just started walking the road to Armageddon here in February of 2026, Marvel is already teasing May. And by that point, at least in terms of the Chip Zdarsky written Captain America and Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon, we’re no longer walking roads, we’re now lighting matches.

Per the publisher, things really start to heat up in May as Captain America #11 finds Cap, S.H.I.E.L.D. and Red Hulk going head to head, discovering a surprising secret about Latveria. Meanwhile, Wolverine teams up with the new Cap, David Colton, to take down a new Weapon X. And in the process, they’ll discover an Origin Box from the Ultimate Universe that will lead to a big change for the Avengers.

Seems complicated? It may be, as we don’t really have a sense of what Armageddon, the publisher’s big summer event, is really about, even while prognosticating three months into the future. Could David Colton get the Origin Box? Wolverine? Me? We’ll find out more in May. Or maybe in March, because thats when Marvel releases solicits for June. Comics!

Magnetic Announces Hana And Taru:

Magnetic Press and Oni Press have been on a tear lately with some very cool looking graphic novels. And hey, guess what? Here’s another one: Hana and Taru, the graphic novel debut of writer Léo Schilling and artist Motteu, which we exclusively revealed over at Comic Book Club Live Dot Com.

In the book, which is likened to Miyazaki’s whimsy and wonder, a young hunter-warrior named Taru is trying to make her mark in the adult world, but is “marginalized as much for her naïveté as for her radical ideas, which are dismissed by her mother and peers as nonsense,” per PR. So she’s put in charge of watching a prisoner named Hana, a human with a mysterious past who has been captured by Taru’s tribe. And when Taru’s village is attacked by forest beasts, the two must work together to find out what is causing the beasts to rampage, and how they might be stopped.

Alongside Miyazaki, the ecological fable is also likened to The Borrowers and The Last Unicorn. You can find out how accurate that is when Hana and Taru hits stores on May 12, 2026.

DC Comics Gets 90th Anniversary Popcorn Buckets At AMC:

Collectible popcorn buckets have been all the rage lately since Dune 2 released a sandworm bucket that people wanted to do disgusting things to. And now, DC Comics is getting in on the action with a series of popcorn buckets at AMC theaters celebrating the 90th anniversary of the publisher.

Per 13th Dimension, the six buckets — actually listed by AMC as popcorn tins — look like large versions of classic comic book covers, ranging from Action Comics #1 and Batman #1, to tins celebrating the Justice League, Flash, and Wonder Woman. Adding to the collectible nature, they also include double-sided lanyards that spotlight two other covers, including classic issues featuring Green Lantern and Hawkman.

The tins cost $21.95 each, and seem to be about the size of an omnibus, if you’re wondering how much popcorn they actually hold. While AMC lists them as “coming soon” on their website, they’ve already begun popping up at local theaters, so get to it, popcorn fans!

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And I don’t think you can do anything gross with these particular popcorn tins, but it won’t be for lack of trying.
