Oni Press Switches From Lunar Distribution To Penguin Random House:
Oni Press is switching distribution from Lunar to Penguin Random House, a big change for the publisher that will go into effect on August 1.
Per the deal, PRH will “sell and distribute Oni Press’ frontlist and backlist trade books, as well as single issue comics, for Oni Press and the company’s Magnetic Press imprint exclusively across all sales channels worldwide.”
Per a press release provided to Comic Book Club, that includes forthcoming titles from Matt Kindt’s Flux House imprint like Fort Psycho, as well as the upcoming Archie Comics books being published by Oni. As for how this will impact consumers? The answer is probably “not at all.” But for comic book shops, it’s another shift in ordering strategy in an industry that has been shifting non-stop for the past five years.
Mad Cave Hires New Director Of Marketing:
More business news! Mad Cave Studios has hired Cara O’Neil as the publisher’s new Director of Marketing.
Why is this a big deal? Well, because O’Neil is a respected member of the comic book industry who previously worked in marketing over at Dark Horse, helping with titles like Hellboy, Black Hammer, The Umbrella Academy and more. Like with our previous item, this shouldn’t impact anyone on the consumer level too much. But from the publishing perspective, it shows Mad Cave is continuing to make moves in the industry, expanding rapidly and making some big deals both in terms of licensed properties — see previous items about new Disney books and Star Wars books — as well as behind the scenes.
Marvel Reveals Additional Spider-Man-Superman Crossovers:
Frank Miller, Gary Frank, and even some guys not named Frank (first or last name) will provide covers for Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man/Superman #1. While multiple covers had already been announced for the upcoming one-shot, the publisher has revealed even more covers, including some logo mash-ups… And additional stories, as well.
Those include covers by Gary Frank, Frank Miller, Humberto Ramos, E.M. Gist, and Skottie Young. Meanwhile, the just-announced stories are Ghost-Spider meeting Supergirl by Stephanie Phillips and Phil Noto, as well as another Spider-Man/Superman team-up, by Jeph Loeb and Jim Cheung.
Interestingly, Loeb framed his story as “I’d like to think connects emotionally with Spider-Man: Blue and Superman for All Seasons,” per press release, which sets the bar very high. We’ll see if it vaults it when Spider-Man/Superman #1 hits stores on April 15, 2026.
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And guys not named Frank? Seems impossible to me, Alex Zalbenfrank.
