DC And Guide Dogs Of America Team Up For Litter Of Puppies:
Guide Dogs of America is a fantastic organization full of real-life superheroes who help connect guide dogs with people who need them. And now, DC is hooking up with the org to help sponsor some superheroes of their own… Or rather, super-puppies, as the comics company is sponsoring a litter of future guide and service dogs.
Per the press release, GDA|TLC works with “those who are blind or visually impaired, along with veterans with PTSD or TBI, children with autism, and facility dogs for public institutions, through expertly trained service dogs.” The two companies previously worked together at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con… And now they’ll launch a yearlong partnership that includes the superhero litter of five pups.
Krypto, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Kara Zor-El, and Lobo will all go through puppy prekindergarten training, and then move from the “GDA|TLC campus into the homes of skilled volunteer puppy-raisers who continue to transform these golden-labrador crosses into loyal companions with their own versions of superpowers.”
If you want to follow the journey of the DC superpups, you can go to DC.com/pups. Throughout the year, the two orgs will have “a series of co-branded events, media moments, and storytelling activations, celebrating impact, community, and heroism. Fans will also be able to join the fun and follow along through social activations throughout the year and even meet the puppies in person at San Diego Comic-Con in July.”
Will the litter get involved in DC K.O. and turn it into “kittens out!” Or will we get to see Absolute versions of the puppies? TBD.
IDW Sales Numbers Drop Again:
IDW has had a rough couple of years financially — not creatively — and as reported by ICv2, its sales numbers were down 12.5% in the fiscal year ending on October 31. The decline was directly attributable to drops in sales in both book stores and comic book stores.
Overall, sales were down $3.4 million to $23 million in 2025, with $2.2 million of that loss directly attributed to the book market, and a “weak backlist of licensed titles.”
It’s not all bad news, though. The losses were nearly identical to the year before, with $702,000 of the debt caused by last year’s implosion of Diamond — and therefore should not be a factor in the current fiscal year. Can IDW turn things around in 2026? Perhaps the new horror line IDW Dark will make things turn towards the light.
Doorman Gets Solo Comic From Marvel:
Hot on the heels of his appearance on Disney+’s Wonder Man, Doorman is getting his first solo comic from Marvel
Per The Beat, it is a one-shot digital exclusive Infinity Comic, by Cody Ziglar and Julian Shaw which finds DeMarr “Doorman” Davis” ditching “a virtual job interview for an in-person demonstration of his portal powers during his hunt for a super side gig,” and visiting the Savage Land, Latveria and other places in the process.
While it’s not exactly the character seen on TV — Doorman has been a member of the Great Lakes Avengers since 1989’s West Coast Avengers #46 — in a rare bit of actual synergy, the Infinity Comic hit a mere two days after the show premiered on the streamer. Will this lead to more appearances in the future? Hey, the door is open.
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. Okay, but Bark Kent would have been a better name, just saying.
