‘Vampirella’ Reboots Again With A New #1 Issue

A new yearly event, Dynamite will reboot Vampirella for a new “season” starting this April, with a new Vampirella #1.

Written by Christopher Priest with art by Davis Goetten, to be clear this isn’t a clean-the-slate reboot, but instead a new volume that continues the story Priest has been telling over the past 90 issues. And it’s planned to continue until issue #700 — this new Vampirella #1, for example, is legacy numbered #688.

So, what’s up for Vampirella? Per PR from Dynamite:

The Daughter of Drakulon isn’t the only such fearsome blood-sucker from the planet and family legacy. Her sister Draculina has recently lost her Vampiri powers, as well as the baby she wrested away from Vampirella. Now shackled with humanity, her already fragile psyche risks shattering when her thirst for blood unexpectedly creeps back. Confronted with the prospect of once again being consumed by the evil appetites that had controlled her for centuries, she sets out on a desperate quest to break the patterns of her past and find new answers — or die trying! And how does Vampirella herself factor into these next chapters?

Vampirella #1 hits stores in April with covers from Lucio Parrillo, Derrick Chew, Joseph Michael Linsner, Elias Chatzoudis, and a cosplay cover from Rachel Hollon. Plus, because of course it does: blind bags, baby! They’ll contain three limited edition variants of the issue.
