DC Comics‘ Next Level initiative kicks off in March with Batwoman, Deathstroke, and Lobo. But there’s more to come in April, and as just announced by the publisher, Jeff Lemire and Rafael De Latorre will take on The Fury of Firestorm, while Jamal Campbell will return to Zatanna for a second series.

While the three aforementioned titles will be entering their second month, Firestorm and Zatanna will both debut in April, with the tease of more to come. That includes The Demon, Barbara Gordon, Jonah Hex, the Teen Titans, and more. And if you’re looking to try to cast those books, here’s who has yet to be announced attached to a series: Javier Rodríguez, Mariko Tamaki, James Harren, Kyle Higgins, Daniele Di Nicuolo, Michael Walsh, Amancay Nahuelpan, Deniz Camp, and others. Also of note, Joshua Williamson is writing Legion of Super-Heroes, though TBD when we’ll hear more about that.

Okay, back to the April titles!

First up is Firestorm, which debuts on April 1, 2026 with covers by Chris Burnham, Riley Rossmo, Lemire, and Corona. In the series, per PR from DC, “The community of Bedford, Colorado, is a sleepy small town. The people say hello to their neighbors, attend town hall meetings, and root for the local high school football team on Friday nights. But this idyllic small town is thrown upside down when the Nuclear Man arrives and starts…experimenting. Firestorm has turned buildings to sand and people to glass with no remorse and no warning. But what exactly provoked Ronnie Raymond to commit this heinous act, and can anyone contain the fury that is Firestorm?”

You can check out said covers, as well as four unlettered preview pages, below.

Then on April 29, 2026, Jamal Campbell heads back for a new volume of Zatanna after his lauded 2025 limited series. This new one is ongoing, and per PR, “Zatanna Zatara embarks on her greatest tour yet! As the newest and first Prime Magus in millennia, it is now Zatanna’s sworn responsibility to oversee and guide the world of magic. All eyes are on her.

“How will she accomplish this grand task? How will she shoulder this heaviest of responsibilities? How will she confront the horrors waiting in forgotten histories? With a wink, a flourish, and a whole lot of magic!”

Zatanna #1 will feature covers by Adam Hughes, Kyuyong Eom, Julian Totino Tedesco, and once again Corona. While DC didn’t provide any preview pages, they did provide character sketches by Campbell, as well as the covers (click for larger versions).
