Marvel Launches ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Clock Countdown For Maybe The Next 11 Plus Months?

Doomsday countdown

After four weeks of teaser trailers, Marvel’s campaign for Avengers: Doomsday has reached its logical conclusion: an eleven month plus long YouTube livestream featuring a clock.

I kid — sort of — but that is what launched this morning alongside the fourth teaser trailer for the upcoming movie, which — spoilers for an ad past this point — features the Wakandans meeting the Fantastic Four (or at least one member of the team). Previous teasers released before Avatar: Fire and Ash and then later online include ones focusing on Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and the X-Men.

So what’s the deal here? Will this livestream really run for 11 months and four days (as of this writing), until the movie debuts on December 18? Maybe. Marvel has previously released livestreams of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) breathing and Daredevil (Charlie Cox) brooding on a rooftop, so there’s no reason to think they might not bump up those YouTube views with a nearly year-long clock.

On the other hand, one time they launched a livestream of a bunch of chairs in an otherwise empty soundstage that ran for six hours, so there’s every chance that something else is going on here. My guess? It’s leading to the reveal of the full teaser trailer for the movie, likely a month from now during the Super Bowl. But you can bet fans will be watching religiously as long as this lasts, just for a glimpse of something new.

Meanwhile, ICE murdered a woman named Renee Nicole Good in Minnesota, leading to nationwide protests, so maybe you can take a five-minute break from watching a clock for a movie that comes out in a year and check out the news? And perhaps call your senators and congresspeople and demand they abolish ICE, an out-of-control police force with no clear oversight which is regularly attacking and imprisoning American citizens? If you need a reason to do this beyond “basic human decency” then how about: the Hulk agrees. I dunknow, just a thought.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026. You can watch the clock tick down below, and find contact info for your Senators and congresspeople at the links.

  1. Weird you felt the need to bring up the ice shooting here. Also on the topic, why is just Renee Goode’s story the one everyone mentions and not the Portland case that happened the next day?
