Are you psyched for Free Comic Book Day 2026? Well, time to get more hyped, as Skybound has announced they’re bringing back the Energon Universe Special for 2026’s celebration. And… That’s about all we know.
Okay, we do know a little bit more. As per usual for the special, it will include, per PR, a “perfect jumping-in point for new readers and a can’t-miss story for longtime fans, with major moments in store.” And there will be stories for Transformers, G.I. Joe and Void Rivals. But the most intriguing bit of info? There are “four all-new stories.” Could a M.A.S.K. title be coming to round out the line, given writer Robert Kirkman has been laying the seeds over in Transformers?
As for who is on board, Kirkman, Joshua Williamson, “and more” will write the stories, possibly backing up our “fourth Energon Universe title” theory (Kirkman writes Transformers and Void Rivals, Williamson writes G.I. Joe, “and more” maybe writes something else), as well as featuring art by Jason Howard, Conor Hughes, and — you guessed it — more.
“Free Comic Book Day is such an exciting holiday every year,” said Executive Editor Ben Abernathy via press release. “To have FOUR exciting stories by some of the best creators in the business is a dream come true!”
