Absolute Universe Dominates December 2025 Graphic Novel Sales:
Yesterday, we brought you the news that Absolute Batman dominated the December 2025 single issues sales chart. Well you’re not going to believe this, but the title also hit number one on the chart for December’s graphic novel sales.
Per ICv2, DC’s Absolute Universe held a commanding position overall, with Martian Manhunter at number two, Wonder Woman at number three, Green Lantern at number four, Flash at number six, Superman at number seven, and the hardcover edition of Absolute Batman at number eight. The only title breaking up that run? DC’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow at number five, powered by continued interest leading up to the movie adaptation and the release of the trailer.
In fact, DC had a chokehold on the Top 20, with eight of the budget-priced Compact Comics editions charting as well. That left only two slots for other publishers: Skybound’s Transformers Volume 4 at number thirteen, and Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man Volume 1 at number 17.
Marvel To Offer Refunds For Ultimate Endgame Damages:
Do you own a damaged copy of Marvel’s Ultimate Endgame #1? Then you might be entitled to compensation. But before you call a shady lawyer to get paid back for your traumatic experience, just know that distributors Penguin Random House are offering refunds, but only to comic book shops.
Reported widely last week, copies of the blind bagged Ultimate Endgame were damaged when improperly packed by PRH. Subsequently, some stores refused to sell the book, though plenty of people opened their blind bags anyway. Now, per Bleeding Cool, PRH is taking damaged copies back, with the caveat that “due to the size of the claim” they need to be sent back directly to Marvel. Not only that, but retailers must strip the covers off before returning.
Now before you have a panic attack about a retailer destroying a one-of-a-kind Peach Momoko sketch cover or something, the issues come with a wraparound paper to hide the real covers in the bag. So what PRH is talking about is removing these wraparounds before sending them back.
What the next steps are, and if we’ll have to watch Marvel employees shredding a Kevin Feige signed cover? TBA.
Absolute Demon Collection Coming From DC:
In a case of “this is a confusing way to name things,” an Absolute Edition of Jack Kirby’s The Demon will be hitting stores later this year. And no, this is not the Absolute Universe Demon, it’s an Absolute Edition, which is a recolored and restored, high-end printing of classic works.
In this case, Demon by Jack Kirby Absolute Edition will contain 16 issues of Kirby’s series from the 1970s, alongside essays by other creators and a forward by Steve Bissette. Though there are no plans currently for an Absolute Universe version of the character, there will be a new title as part of DC’s Next Level initiative, by creators TBA.
Demon by Jack Kirby Absolute Edition will run 600 pages, and hit stores on September 1.
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And if they made an Absolute Demon would they release an Absolute Demon Absolute Edition? Only time will tell.
