Fourth ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Trailer Leaks Online, Revealing A Meeting 60 Years In The Making

Black Panther Wakanda Forever

Earlier today — like, an hour ago — I noted that it was surprising the fourth Avengers: Doomsday trailer had yet to leak online, particularly as Marvel posted the third one, featuring the return of the X-Men. Well, you’re not going to believe this: the fourth Avengers: Doomsday trailer has leaked online.

Premiering later this week in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash, we won’t link the leaked teaser here, but we will describe it… So if you don’t want spoilers for an advertisement, look away.

The one minute look begins with a shot of the desert, ultimately revealing the back of the head of a single figure: Shuri (Letitia Wright), who if you’ll recall from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the new Black Panther, after the unfortunate passing of Chadwick Boseman, as well as in canon his character, T’Challa.

“I’ve lost everyone that matters to me,” Shuri says as the camera holds and she begins to walk away.

Then we get a shot of the Talokans, the underwater people led by Namor (Tenoch Huerta), who are very much above water and looking over the desert Shuri is walking through. “A king has his duties,” Shuri says. “To prepare our people…”

As she says this, we get a shot of Namor, looking intensely off-camera.

“…For the afterlife,” continues Shuri. “I have mine.”

As she says the latter, M’Baku (Winston Duke) joins her, and they’re backed up by several members of the Dora Milaje.

“King M’Baku of Wakanda,” says, guess who, M’Baku, to a figure off-screen.

That figure? Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) of the Fantastic Four, paying off on something Marvel fans have waited to see on screen since Black Panther was first introduced in Fantastic Four #52 from July of 1966.

“Ben,” says The Thing. “Uh, Yancy Street. Between Broome and Grande.”

Then we get a shot of Shuri looking intense and doing the “Wakanda Forever” hand pose, followed by the end line “The Wakandans and The Fantastic Four will return in Avengers: Doomsday.” Whither the Talokans? I guess they didn’t make the cut.

That’s followed by the Doomsday “A” logo and the countdown, as well as the tease that it’ll hit theaters on December 18, 2026.

So, a few thoughts on this. First of all, I guess it’s good they put the problematic stars in one teaser (Wright famously retweeted anti-vax material during COVID, Huerta was accused of sexual assault), though that’s a bummer for unproblematic fave Moss-Bachrach, whose biggest controversy is that he would love people to stop shouting “cousin” at him.

Second: is this the final teaser trailer we’re gonna get? I had originally speculated after the Chris Evans teaser that the next one would be Thor (Chris Hemsworth), followed by other members of the original Avengers team (i.e., Scarlett Johansson). I was way off on that except the Thor thing, but the cadence of Steve Rogers to Thor to X-Men to Wakandans and Fantastic Four is a little strange. With about forty or sixty (approximately) more characters in the movie, it’s entirely possible we could get one a week until the movie debuts. Or, more likely, one a week until there’s an official teaser trailer that debuts during the Super Bowl on February 8. At this point, that’s only about four-ish weeks away, so could we get four more teasers? Or are they wrapping it up on this meeting 60 years in the making? Stay tuned.
