‘The Muppet Show’ Teaser Reveals Sabrina Carpenter And Seth Rogen In First Look

I’ll admit, I get a little emotional thinking about a return to the classic The Muppet Show set. But even better than that is the first look teaser of Sabrina Carpenter and Seth Rogen’s appearances on the Disney+ special, which hits exactly the right tone for the iconic program: not caring.

Or rather, the thing about The Muppet Show is that every episode was an absolute backstage disaster that somehow came together at the last moment. When you mythologize it, that doesn’t work. On the other hand, hearing Rogen say, “It’s always been a dream of mine to be here,” with Fozzie Bear (who is wearing some ridiculous balloons on his head) answering, “Oooh… Got any other dreams?” That’s the stuff.

See, that’s what we want out of The Muppet Show: skewering of pop culture, something Rogen — who also produces — does so well on Apple TV’s The Studio. Add in Sabrina Carpenter being paired with Miss Piggy, which is actually iconic, and you have a recipe for potential success.

Here’s the official synopsis for the one-off (unless it isn’t) episode:

It’s “The Muppet Show!” Kermit, Miss Piggy and the beloved Muppet gang are back with a brand-new special event. Music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos are bound to ensue when The Muppets once again take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with their very special guest, Sabrina Carpenter!

Over the decades since the original Muppet Show went off the air, we’ve had multiple takes that just haven’t quite hit the same way. Granted this is just a 30 second teaser, but I think they may have cracked it this time by… Going back to what originally worked?

The Muppet Show is directed by Alex Timbers, Executive Produced by Rimbers, Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, Michael Steinbach, Carpenter, Albertina Rizzo, Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobson.

More importantly, per a release, “Veteran Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman and Matt Vogel will perform the majority of the iconic Muppet characters in this production, supported by a talented team of additional performers. Dave Goelz, who has performed with The Muppets for over 50 years, was one of the performers on the original ‘The Muppet Show’ and originated the characters Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, among many others.”

The Muppet Show returns February 4, 2026 on Disney+ and ABC.
