After its launch in 2023, Marvel’s new Ultimate Universe will end in April 2026. This sparked many reactions and questions, such as why Marvel would end the line so soon. Some fans also believe this end means a beginning for something new. Either way, we won’t wanna miss the chaotic ending to the Ultimate line, and the final showdown against The Maker, the evil Reed Richards.
We’ve prepared a reading order for all comics that make up the latest year of the line, divided into trade paperbacks (TPBs), with a synopsis for each. By the end of the article, you’ll also find an issue-by-issue order.
We also have a guide teaching you how to start reading the new Ultimate Universe, one year in. The following reading order begins with Ultimate Wolverine and ends with Ultimate Endgame issue #4. The Ultimate Endgame event will conclude the storyline in its fifth issue in April, along with Ultimates #24 and Ultimate Wolverine #16. However, Marvel’s April 2026 solicits have yet to be released, so we don’t have exact release dates and info about the final three titles.
Either way, between the Year One rundown linked above, and the Year Two rundown below, you should be prepped and ready for the endgame.
Ultimate Wolverine Vol. 1: The Winter Soldier TP

In this universe, Wolverine is the Winter Soldier. He’s a special weapon used by Magik, Colossus, and Omega Red to stop mutant liberation. This series has a much more familiar vibe to the original franchise than Ultimate X-Men, and is a good alternative if you disliked the other.

The Ultimates by Deniz Camp Vol. 2: All Power to the People TP

After a huge defeat, the Ultimates have to regroup and come up with a new plan. The best part about this volume is seeing the new characters, such as Luke Cage (who has the best chapter here), the Guardians of the Galaxy, and others.

Ultimate Spider-Man by Jonathan Hickman Vol. 3: Family Business TP

This volume brings on an homage to Kraven’s Last Hunt, Sandman, and Mysterio’s origin. While some people might not enjoy the lack of Peter here, others may enjoy learning about the broader universe of the series.

Ultimate Black Panther by Bryan Hill Vol. 3: Darkness and Light TP

Ultimate Black Panther volume three brings several changes and surprises to the series, making the plot even more fascinating. We also get nice developments for Killmonger and Ororo, who feel less out of place now.

Ultimate X-Men by Peach Momoko Vol. 3: The Realm of the Mind TP

Momoko creates some of her best art for the series as the tension in the story rises. The story starts moving faster, bringing on a confrontation involving Hisako, Maystorm, the Children of the Atom, and Shadow King.

Free Comic Book Day 2025: Amazing Spider-Man / Ultimate Universe #1

This features a prelude story to Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion, which heavily focuses on Miles Morales. Ziglar’s voice for the character is great, and it’s a nice introduction if you haven’t been following him for a while.
