First ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Teaser Officially Drops Online, As Second One Leaks

Steve Rogers Chris Evans Avengers Doomsday teaser trailer

After leaking online weeks ago, the first teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has officially been posted by Marvel Studios. And yep, Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers in the 2026 MCU movie. But, in a case of good news, bad news, the second teaser trailer featuring another character — that would be Chris Hemsworth as Thor — has reportedly leaked online, in advance of it premiering in theaters this weekend.

In this first teaser, we see an unknown man riding down a road on his motorcycle, putting away his Captain America uniform, and then cradling a baby. Shocker of shockers, it’s Chris Evans. And if there was any doubt as to who he’s playing, the traditional MCU end credits white on black text reads “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday.” That then cuts to the greenish Avengers: Doomsday “A” logo, with a countdown to a year from now that [pushes glasses up nose] is not even close to accurate, timewise.

Regardless, very online folks have known about this teaser for a while, and we even speculated about what it’s all building to. There are reportedly four teasers total coming for the movie, one a week attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash. So far, that reporting seems to be bearing fruit, as the Steve Rogers tease was indeed attached to most (though not all) showings of the Avatar threequel this past weekend.

And, per the above, the second teaser seems to have leaked featuring Thor. That one is a little chattier than the Steve Rogers one, and while not confirmed as real as of this time, yeah, it’s probably real. So spoilers for an advertisement past this point.

In the sub-minute teaser, we interestingly get to see another father/child relationship, this time with Thor and Love (India Hemsworth), the daughter of Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) who Thor adopted in Thor: Love and Thunder. After kissing her on the head in her bed, he’s seen in the woods, praying to Odin. He’s talking about entering a dangerous battle, and just wants to return home to Love… And that’s pretty much it, ending with the same “Thor will return in Avengers: Doomsday,” followed by the countdown.

As I speculated previously, these teasers aren’t meant to, er, tease the plot of the movie so much as remind audiences who have fled the MCU that “hey, you love these guys.” And when I say “these guys” I specifically mean the cast of the original Avengers movie, leading through Endgame. This part is a guess, but I think it’s a good one… The third teaser will reveal another returning actor in Doomsday, possibly a surprise one like Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow (yes, I know she died), but definitely one of the original Avengers. So possibly Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, who also has a kid of his own to deal with, or Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye (who, I don’t need to point out, has three kids).

The final teaser? Almost definitely going to be Robert Downey Jr., and audiences who have somehow missed the announcement will likely be shocked to discover he’s returning not as Iron Man/Tony Stark, but as Doctor Doom. That, I’d venture, is what this ad campaign is doing… Telling audiences the characters you know and love are coming back, but the biggest star of the bunch is returning as the bad guy.

What does that mean? You’ll find out when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
