The Lake Como Comic Art Festival, a boutique convention held at the Villa Erba in Cernobbio, Lake Como, Italy, has announced the lucky ducks who get to exhibit at this year’s fest.
Those guests include Liam Sharp, who will provide an exclusive portfolio featuring a one-of-a-kind art print spotlighting Conan the Barbarian, and an original hand-drawn remarque and signature for anyone who gets the VIP ticket package.
“Ever since my earliest days I have longed to draw this character,” Sharp said about Conan via press release. “He made me feel stronger at a time when I needed it. He gifted me a courage I never felt I had. He challenged me to in turn challenge the greatest obstacles of my own life. Drawing this set of prints, mostly taken from classic scenes, has been a career-long dream of mine. I think it was worth the wait!”
That’s all well and good, but who else will be lounging on the shores of Lake Como this year? How about: Alan Davis, Alex Maleev, Alvaro Martinez Bueno, Andy Belanger, Brian Bolland, Carmen Carnero, Dani, David Mack, Dustin Nguyen, Enrique Breccia, Enrico Marini, Esad Ribic, Frank Cho, Gabriele Dell’Otto, Gary Frank, J Scott Campbell, Joe Chiodo, Jordi Bernet, Joshua Cassara, Juanjo Guarnido, Mahmud Asrar, Monte Michael Moore, Olivier Vatine, Patrick McDonnell, Pepe Larraz, Riccardo Federici, Rick Leonardi, Sanjulian, Sara Pichelli, Scott Hampton, Stanley Artgerm Lau, Sylvain Repos, Tanya Lehoux, and Terry Dodson.
The Lake Como Comic Art Festival is less of a comic convention than a curated art experience, and will be held over two days: Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th. In addition to tables for the artists, there are workshops, panels, and an opening night reception. So it’s sort of like a comic convention, let’s not get too over our skis.
