‘Event Horizon’ Sequel ‘Inferno’ Coming From IDW

IDW and writer Christian Ward aren’t quite done with Event Horizon yet. Nearly 30 years after the release of the cult classic, Ward has been going hog wild with the prequel comic Dark Descent. But it ain’t over until Paimon says it’s over, and they’re keeping the demonic party going with an official sequel, Event Horizon: Inferno.

Set 200 years after the events of the movie, Ward will team up with artist Rob Carey to bring an entirely different look at cosmic horror. And based on the covers at least, to misquote Robbie Williams: you’ll be loving angels instead.

“I’m thrilled to continue the story of Event Horizon,” Ward said via press release. “First we told you the story about what happened before the events of the film and now we’re exploring what happened after the credits rolled. Get ready for more sci-fi, more excitement and especially more cosmic terror. There are more demons in hell and we’re only just beginning.”

While Inferno won’t hit stores until April of 2026, you still have time to catch up on Dark Descent, which is now on its fourth and final printing for all four issues, which will go on sale on February 4, 2026 — aka the debut of the final issue of the prequel series. IDW also teases a trade paperback collection will hit next summer.

IDW didn’t offer up any more info about the new sequel series, but you can check out some of the covers for Event Horizon: Inferno #1, below.
