Is it fair to take publishers that aren’t Marvel, DC, or Image and lump them into “other publishers”? Absolutely not. Are we doing that anyway for our top comics for December 2025 from other publishers list… Um, yes, that is what you are reading right now.
Those publishers include IDW, BOOM! Studios, Dark Horse Comics, Oni Press, and Mad Cave Studios. And while they are all worthy of your time, since we already put together lists for the aforementioned publishers, we wanted to give their titles a little shine as well.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the comics that are very much worth your time from those pubs coming out this month, presented in chronological release order. 1. Something Is Killing The Children #45
Release Date: December 3, 2025
Every issue of this title by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera is a must read, so this one is too! The current arc, with a young Erica Slaughter tracking a monster at a ski lodge, has been a particularly beautifully drawn one.
2. The Terminator: Santa Claus Is Coming To Town #1
Release Date: December 3, 2025
Paulina Ganucheau and Kendall Goode team up for this Dynamite one-shot focusing on the status quo of Santa Claus in the future of Terminator. Not the real Santa, mind you, but what kids and adults think Santa might be like if there were T-1000s wandering around. Fun!
3. Briar: Night’s Terror #1
Release Date: December 3, 2025
The third is a trilogy by Christopher Cantwell and Alex Lins, the story has grown from a riff on Sleeping Beauty to a wild fantasy epic on its own. How will it all end? You’ll just have to read to find out.
4. Rick And Morty: The End #1
Release Date: December 3, 2025
Oni Press continues their excellent event series from Daniel Kibblesmith and Jarrett Williams with The End, which actually promises zero years Rick and Morty instead of the promised one thousand.
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #13
Release Date: December 10, 2025
IDW is essentially treating this like a new number one with all the bells and whistles that implies. But the real draw here is writer Gene Luen Yang and artist Freddie E. Williams II, a pretty great team for the Turtles. And the issue pays off on the promise with some big action, a new villain, and surprising twists.
6. Our Soot Stained Heart #1
Release Date: December 10, 2025
Hailing from writer Jonas Hägg and artist Stipan Morian, this is a steampunk Santa story about a town that makes its workers be naughty for coal. Full disclosure, I haven’t read this and don’t know much about it (Hägg also seems to be a first-time writer), but I am very much judging the book by the cover here, and that cover looks intriguing.
7. Miss Truesdale And The Rise Of Man #1
Release Date: December 10, 2025
Mike Mignola and Jesse Lonergan on a sequel to their book about a Victorian woman thrust back into her barbarian past life. What more do you need to know?
8. Star Trek: The Last Starship #3
Release Date: December 17, 2025
A resurrected Captain Kirk fighting Klingons with a ragtag group of Starfleet officers in the previously uncharted era known as The Burn? That’s pretty cool. But what’s even cooler are the absolutely bonkers action scenes in this issue — and that last page. No spoilers here, but this is a must read for Star Trek fans.
9. The New Space Age #1
Release Date: December 17, 2025
Kenny Porter and Mike Becker anchor this very fun sounding Mad Cave Studios series about a man looking for his brother, who was kidnapped by aliens, discovering crop circles are instructions for advanced space travel.
10. Adventure Time: The Bubbline College Special – Deluxe Edition #1
Release Date: December 17, 2025
The Bubbline College Special by Caroline Cash was a delightful AU about Marceline and Princess Bubblegum falling in love in college. So what makes this edition deluxe? Seems like it’s got a new cover, comes polybagged, and has a sticker sheet. Okay, fine, you got me Oni Press: sold.
11. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Battle Nexus #1
Release Date: December 24, 2025
Multiverse death matches are all the rage right now, and the TMNT get in on the action with Battle Nexus, which takes Turtles from time and pits them against each other.
