This is Comic Book Club News for November 18, 2025.

Ultimate X-Men Ends In February:

Ultimate X-Men is ending in 2026, with issue #24! This isn’t news! We knew this!

…But thanks to Marvel’s February solicits for its Ultimate Universe titles, we know how it will end. Here’s the synopsis for the issue, which is written and drawn by Peach Momoko:

“THE FINAL ISSUE! HOPE YOU SURVIVE THE EXPERIENCE! It’s time to say goodbye to the Ultimate X-Men! But what does the future hold for our favorite misfit mutants? How will they survive the world war that has broken out? AND WHAT HAPPENED TO ARMOR?”

All of Marvel’s Ultimate titles are ending next year, starting with Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Black Panther, both in January. And while fans were doubtful Marvel would really end the best-selling line, that certainly seems to be the plan, much to the surprise of the writers involved. But the goal is to have stories with beginnings, middles, and ends that will be able to read in full on bookshelves for years to come. Good plan!

Ultimate X-Men #24 is on sale on February 11, 2026.

WEBTOON Takes Big Financial Hit:

Given the constant stream of news from vertical scrolling platform WEBTOON, from partnerships with Disney to animation deals with Warner Bros., one might think it’s up, up, up. But in fact, the company took a big financial hit in the third quarter, reporting a loss of $11.6 million — with things projected to fall further in the fourth quarter of the year.

Per ICv2, the total loss from a year ago is $31.9 million, while back then the company reported a $59.4 million profit. Yikes!

So what is this attributed to? It’s not people being less interested in WEBTOON, as monthly average users grew 12% for the english version of the app, and .8% in the rest of the world. Rather, the loss is due to income tax expenses, and a severe change in the currency exchange rate. Hm, wonder what that could be due to.

Even worse for the company, stockholders knocked a full 25.1% off the price in light of this news. So is WEBTOON vertically scrolling up, or vertically scrolling down? More on this as it develops.

Sacramento Looks To Repeal Law Making Comics Illegal:

If you live in Sacramento and buy comic books? Buddy, you’re a criminal. Or at least you are for the moment, as a local comic book creator is looking to repeal an over 75-year-old law that makes selling comics that depict any sort of crime or violence to anyone under 18-years-old punishable by a fine, or even jail time.

Per CBS News, the law was introduced in 1949, which predates the restrictive Comics Code Authority by about five years. While the law hasn’t strictly been followed to the letter — there are a ton of comic book stores in the California location, including World’s Best Comics and Toys, Big Brother Comics, and more — a local creator, Eben Burgoon is looking to repeal the law. He’s backed by City Councilmember Phil Pluckebaum, and the duo is hoping that not only will they overturn the law, but will add a Sacramento Comic Book Week in September.

The city council will hear the proposal this week.

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And this is really gonna to cut into the profits of my dark web Batman comic selling ring I’ve been running in Sacramento. Oh well!
