This is Comic Book Club News for November 3, 2025.
Chip Zdarsky To Write Armageddon Event For Marvel:
Chip Zdarsky is gonna dance little animal crackers across the tummy of the Marvel Universe this June with Armageddon, an event that — you won’t believe this, you’ve never heard this before — will change the Marvel Universe forever.
Specifically, Marvel is teasing that Armageddon will not only “impact the entire Marvel Universe,” per PR from the publisher, it will change “the face of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in a way not seen since Avengers: Disassembled, the event that redefined the team for the 21st century.” That event not only wrecked Avengers mansion, killed multiple heroes, and gave us an iconic line from Hawkeye (“Not. Like. This.”), it also paved the way for the game-changing New Avengers.
Interestingly, Marvel also notes that the “groundwork” for the event will be laid in Zdarsky and Valerio Schiti’s run on Captain America, but the introduction of “Origin Boxes” in Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #5 will be important, as well. If you’re not familiar, the Origin Boxes contain powers/weapons/costumes that should have gone to heroes and villains in the new Ultimate Universe, but did not. At the end of Incursion, Miles Morales brought some of those boxes back to the regular universe for safe-keeping… So it’s a fair bet that one of those boxes (if not more) will fall into the wrong hands.
The promo image shows what looks like a man with a cape holding an object that could be an Origin Box, or a chalice on its side. And the text reads, “Witness the origin of the end” followed by “Armageddon Assembles, June 2026.” So is Armageddon the guy in the cape? The name of the event? Perhaps an extremely evil asteroid that’s bearing down on Earth? And will DC release an event next Summer titled Deep Impact to compete?
You don’t want to miss a thing when Armageddon assembles in June of 2026.
Wanda Maximoff Is Sorcerer Supreme:
Looks like Marvel’s got a new Sorcerer Supreme: Wanda Maximoff, who makes her debut as the character – title? pizza? – in Sorcerer Supreme #1 on December 31.
Written by Steve Orlando with art by Bernard Chang, the new series will find the one-time Scarlet Witch picking up the mantle left behind by Doctor Doom after the end of One World Under Doom. And in it, Wanda will first find the Vishanti anointing Agatha Harkness as Sorcerer Supreme, then will battle Madelyne Pryor, probably because they both have red hair.
This marks the latest in a long line of Sorcerers Supreme in Marvel Comics. Back in 2009, Brother Voodoo took over in New Avengers #53, with Doctor Strange eventually taking back the mantle. In 2017’s Doctor Strange #381, Loki was made Sorcerer Supreme. Then after Doctor Strange took it back again and then died, Clea took over, then gave it back to Doctor Strange, and then Doctor Doom took over, and now Agatha and also Wanda. Cool!
Sorcerer Supreme #1 hits stores on December 31, 2025.
DC K.O. Sells Out, Spoiler Printing Coming:
Just in case you saw three sets of legs in DC K.O. #1 with the tease that they’re from Darkseid’s three destroyers, and couldn’t figure out who they were… Well, they stand revealed on Dan Mora’s new cover for the second printing of the issue. And spoiler warning past this point, It’s the Absolute Universe versions of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.
Per DC Comics, the first issue has sold out with a second printing heading to stores on November 26. That will feature Javi Fernández’s main cover with a new trade dress, as well as the Mora cover. In addition, Justice League: The Omega Act Special #1 and Titans #28 will also be getting second printings.
What does this all mean, and how will the Absolute Universe characters cross over with the main DC Universe? DC K.O. #2 hits on November 26, 2025, so grab it before that one sells out, too.
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And I’m glad they got Zdarsky, who is an elite oil driller, to write Armageddon.
