Here’s something you can threaten someone with (in a minor way) at your local library: From the World of Minor Threats Library Edition Volume 1, which collects the Dark Horse miniseries Barfly and The Alternates.
Set in — per the name — the also-ran supervillain world created by Patton Oswalt, Jordan Blum, and Scott Hepburn, the two spinoff miniseries focus on characters that popped up in the background of the main series… Minor threats for the main characters in Minor Threats. In The Alternates, Tim Seeley and Christopher Mitten and Tess Fowler teamed up for a story of a bunch of b-list superheroes who got lost in another dimension during a comic book style crossover. Years later, they’re back and trying to live their lives — but not well. Among other characters, the book introduced fan favorite Crab Louie, who confusingly seems to be made out of lobsters.
Then there’s Barfly, written by Kyle Starks, Oswalt, and Blum, with art by Ryan Browne. This one stars a one-time henchman who is a giant fly. All he wants to do is hang out and play music with his band, but unfortunately his old boss is back in town with other ideas…
The hardcover collection From the World of Minor Threats Library Edition Volume 1 includes the full run of both series, is priced at $49.99, and will hit bookstores on June 2, 2026, followed by comic book shops on June 3, 2026.
