‘Spread’ Team Gets ‘Malevolent’ For New Image Comics Series

The team behind Spread is about to get downright Malevolent, as Justin Jordan, John Bivens, and Felipe Sobreiro are back at Image Comics this January with a story that mixes horror and sci-fi.

“This is the most excited I’ve been about a project in a while… Not only because I love working with Justin and John, but also because the world of Malevolent is so fun and full of possibilities,” said Sobreiro via press release. “I think people will really enjoy what we have in store.”

Added Bivens, “I’ve been trying to get Justin and Felipe to work with me again since the end of Spread! Being annoyingly persistent (plus finding a way around their spam blockers) finally paid off and now we are making something awesome!!!”

In the book, the gates of Hell opened thanks to a science experiment gone wrong, which we like to call an “Earth Event Horizon Deal.” 30 years later, humanity has survived against the demons who escaped. But when they invent a weapon that can kill demons, they may not survive her.

Malevolent is pure mayhem and monsters, and it’s been awesome to work with John and Felipe to try and out crazy our last comic,” said Jordan. “I think we just about managed it.”

Malevolent #1 hits stores on Wednesday, January 28. You can check out several interior pages and the cover below:
