This is Comic Book Club News for October 16, 2025.

Marvel Teases Venom/Spider-Man Crossover Death Spiral, Queen In Black For 2026:

Marvel is going big, once again, on symbiotes in 2026. As announced at New York Comic Con, February 2026 will see a nine-part crossover titled Amazing Spider-Man: Death Spiral — and then later in the Summer, a line-wide event titled Queen in Black.

First up, Death Spiral, which will kick off with an Alpha issue by Joe Kelly, Al Ewing, and Charles Soule, with art by Jesús Saíz, and feature Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage. Called a “tight” event at Marvel’s panel, it won’t feature many other characters like Miles Morales and will run through issues of Amazing Spider-Man and Venom over a condensed release schedule. The story focuses on a new super-powered serial killer who is coming for the main trio.

Then there’s Queen in Black, which spins off the revelation that Hela has Knull, God of the Symbiotes, held prisoner. He’ll escape and fight back in his own five-issue miniseries, leading to the mysterious line-wide event which will be written by Al Ewing. And that’s all we know about that!

Absolute Catwoman Is Getting A Six-Issue Miniseries:

Absolute Catwoman is getting her own miniseries. As announced at DC’s Gotham City panel at New York Comic Con, the six-issue mini spinning out of Absolute Batman will be written by Che Grayson and Scott Snyder, with art by Bengal.

In the series, we’ll find out how Selina Kyle went from being a girl on the streets to becoming a high-tech thief. And as opposed to the main Catwoman, who steals shiny things, this one steals secrets in order to climb the social ladder.

Said Grayson on the panel, “She is Batman. She has the gadgets. She has vaults.” And Snyder added that Selina plays an important role throughout Absolute Batman, but there was “so much story” they had to do a miniseries, which “brings in some surprising characters… That you have not seen in the Absolute Universe yet.”

Absolute Catwoman will be hitting stores sometime in 2026.

X-Men Line Reveals New Creative Teams:

As announced at the Marvel Comics X-Men panel at New York Comic Con, the X-Men are mutating once again. Or rather, after the Age of Revelation event comes “Shadows of Tomorrow,” a line-wide branding that will return some titles and bring on new ones.

Here’s the full, new lineup of X-Men titles:

  • X-Men: Jed MacKay and Tony Daniel
  • Uncanny X-Men: Gail Simone and David Marquez
  • Wolverine: Saladin Ahmed and Martin Coccolo
  • Cyclops: Alex Paknadel and Roge Antonio (five issue series)
  • Generation X-23: Jody Houser and Jacopo Camagni
  • Inglorious X-Force: Tim Seeley and Michael Sta. Maria
  • Magik & Colossus: Ashley Allen and Germán Peralta (five issue series)
  • Rogue: Erica Schultz and Luigi Zagaria (five issue series)
  • Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant: Murewa Ayodele and Federica Mancin
  • Wade Wilson: Deadpool: Benjamin Percy and Geoff Shaw

Of particular interest, Paknadel has apparently been dreaming of the Cyclops job for years. And if you’re a Deadpool fan, Percy’s title sounds like a much more serious take. The titles will begin launching in January of 2026 and continue throughout the subsequent months.
