New York Comic Con made claims this year of being the biggest pop culture convention in the United States. And it just backed that up with numbers, eclipsing 2024’s 200,000 attendees by a whole con-full. Per PR for Reed Pop, which produces the show, New York Comic Con 2025 drew over 250,000 attendees.

“Every year, we are reminded that New York Comic Con is more than a convention, it’s a community.  The energy and passion for pop culture that fans bring to this event is palpable and what makes it so special,” said Kristina Rogers, VP of ReedPop US Comics Portfolio, BookCon, and Star WarsCelebration, via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “NYCC continues to set the standard for live events and the participation from studios, creators, and, of course, the fans, shows how powerful the community is in shaping the pop culture landscape.”

Held October 9 through October 12 at the Javits Center in New York City, this year’s con was a heady mix of big TV and movie properties, with comics, cosplay, video games, tabletop games, and inexplicably, Walmart.

The little asterisk here is San Diego Comic Con, where the convention center attendance is capped at 130,000, but the entire town of San Diego is transformed. It’s possible more people may attend SDCC for the free, outdoors and in store activations; but there’s no exact count available for that. So as is? NYCC wins.

Per the release. “NYCC will return to the Javits Center next year on October 8 through 11, 2026, to celebrate its 20th anniversary.” Will it add another 50,000 attendees? Time will tell.
