Marvel’s ‘Wonder Man’ In-Universe Poster Art Is Reportedly “Touched Up By AI”

Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man is headed to Disney+ next year. And with a trailer dropping this past week, it seems like at least part of the production has been “touched up by AI.”

Specifically, fans noticed that something looked a little off with the in-universe footage and products of a “classic” Wonder Man movie, which inspires the reboot our main character, Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul Mateen II) is aiming to audition for. The conceit is that an older movie starring “Brent Willard” and “Jackie Kay” is getting rebooted for the 2020s, but we do get to see some of that older footage at the top of the trailer, as well as posters, lunchboxes, thermoses and more.

And in fact, a poster and thermos were on display at the Marvel booth at New York Comic Con. According to Gold Searcher, a poster on X (formerly Twitter), they asked the folks at the Marvel booth if the Wonder Man poster art is AI-made/generated.

“They said ‘it’s artwork made by artists but touched up by AI,’ which I asked ‘so, really AI-assisted photoshop work’ for clarity, and they said ‘yes,'” the post reads.

To be perfectly clear, there’s a lot of asterisks on this. Not to cast aspersions on my good friend Gold Searcher, but a random internet account talking to a random, unnamed person at the Marvel booth is not clear confirmation that this is, indeed AI usage. We’ve reached out to Disney for comment, but did not receive word back as of publish time.

Previously, Marvel Studios has come under fire for using AI to craft the opening sequence of the Disney+ series Secret Invasion. Meanwhile, fan outcry for seeming AI usage in posters for Thunderbolts* and Fantastic Four: First Steps has previously been denied by the studio.

Just this past weekend, Marvel Comics EIC C.B. Cebulski strongly spoke out against AI usage, stating, “Yes, we’ve never used AI… We never used it, we will not be using it, and we don’t condone it in the Marvel Comics division.”

That’s the Marvel Comics division… So what about the Marvel Studios division?

You can watch the Wonder Man trailer and decide for yourself, below. Wonder Man hits Disney+ on January 27, 2026.
