Warner Bros. Will Break The Bat With ‘Batman: Knightfall,’ A Multi-Chapter Animated Movie Series

Batman Knightfall

It’s time to break… Open the champagne, because Warner Bros. Animation will release Batman: Knightfall, a multi-part animated series of movies that will bring to life the classic comic book storyline that pitted the Dark Knight against Bane.

The news was announced at the close of Warner Bros. Animation’s “The Art Knight: Batman in Animation” panel at New York Comic Con, which, per PR, was “an in-depth exploration of the artistry, creative processes, and inspirations that have shaped the Studio’s interpretations of one of the most iconic characters in comics and pop culture.” It also explains why that Batman music was blasting next to the press lounge, but I digress.

While we don’t have a cast or exact release date at this time (it will be coming in 2026), or even know how many chapters this will run, Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall is currently in production. Here’s the official synopsis.

Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall – When the mysterious behemoth known only as Bane frees Batman’s entire Rogues Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point.

That said, the original storyline from 1993 ran three parts: Knightfall, Knightquest, and KnightsEnd. In it, Bane ends up breaking Batman’s back, leading to him finding a replacement Batman in the erratic Azrael. And then once Batman works his way back to health, has to take down his stand-in.

Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall is directed by Jeff Wamester and written by Jeremy Adams. Rick Morales serves as Supervising Producer alongside Producers Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau. Sam Register and Michael Uslan are Executive Producers. It’s based on comics by Doug Moench, Chuck Dixon, Alan Grant, Dennis O’Neil, Peter David, Jo Duffy, Jim Aparo, Graham Nolan, Norm Breyfogle, and Jim Balent.
