Robert Patrick, pretty famously, played the T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. And while you’d expect people to play on that left and right, mostly Patrick has (no pun intended) stuck to his guns with not dropping Easter eggs. That is, until this week’s episode of Peacemaker, where they laid in a pretty goofy one.
In the episode “Like A Keith In The Night,” and spoilers past this point, Peacemaker (John Cena) and Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) are on the run on Earth-X, a dimension where Hitler won World War II. They’ve escaped from ARGUS and are pursued by the cops… Which makes this dimension’s version of Peacemaker’s father, Auggie Smith (Patrick), also known here as Blue Dragon, realize that if he’s caught, he’ll reveal everything he knows about the Quantum Unfolding Chamber (QUC). And if he does that, Auggie and Peacemaker’s brother Keith (David Denman) are in big trouble themselves.
So when Peacemaker and Harcourt are surrounded by the Evergreen Police Department, Blue Dragon and Captain Triumph zoom down, murder the cops, and blow up their vehicles. That’s when we get the Terminator reference.
“The two of you want to live, you come with us now,” Auggie says.
While it’s not a one-to-one, it’s unmistakably a riff on “Come with me if you want to live,” something that I want to conservatively say every character in the Terminator franchise says at some point, except the T-1000. So he doesn’t get to say it here either. But hey, it’s close enough!
Sadly, that’s likely to be the last Terminator reference we get from Patrick, as Auggie is killed in this episode. But hey, he died once already, so maybe he will come back. After all, the T-1000 is pretty much indestructible, so maybe it’s not “hasta la vista, baby,” quite yet.
