In the latest issue of Marvel’s Death of Silver Surfer, the Silver Surfer stepped off his motorcycle, took off his helmet, shook down his golden hair, and everyone was like “WHOA! SILVER SURFER’S NOT A DUDE, HE’S A LADY, DUDE!” While none of that is true, there is a new Silver Surfer, she’s a lady, and her name is Kelly Koh.
“The Silver Surfer has always been famously one of Marvel’s most emotionally tormented characters, and Kelly with the Power Cosmic absolutely follows in that tradition, ha ha!,” writer Greg Pak said via press release. “But she’s also got a no-nonsense, cocky, dangerous edge that makes her much less predictable than Norrin and a huge challenge to the villains—and heroes!—of the Marvel Universe. Dontcha dare miss DEATH OF THE SILVER SURFER #5 to see what’s next for both Norrin and Kelly — and the Power Cosmic!”
And yes, in Death of Silver Surfer #4, by Pak and Sumit Kumar and Tiago Palma, we did see Norrin Radd gift the Power Cosmic to the extremely xenophobic Kelly Koh. She’ll full on take the mantle, teaming up with Radd against a Galactus-powered threat in Death of Silver Surfer #5.
