‘Peacemaker’ Reveals That Earth-2 Is [SPOILER] In Shocking Reveal Nobody Guessed Six Weeks Ago

Adebayo Peacemaker Episode 6

Have you picked up your jaw off the floor after this week’s episode of Peacemaker, titled “Ignorance Is Chris”? Because in a shocking reveal that nobody saw coming or predicted six weeks ago, and then every week since, Earth-2, aka the DC2, aka the other dimension that Peacemaker (John Cena) has decided to move to, is — spoilers past this point — Earth-X, aka a dimension where Nazis have taken over.

I know, I know, we’ll give you some time to process this one, but in case you’re at all confused, here’s what happened in the final minutes of this week’s episode. After traveling to DC2 to save Peacemaker and bring him home, everything seemed to be going relatively normally for most of the episode. Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) ended up at ARGUS in custody because she was covered in cocaine from Vigilante’s (Freddie Stroma) basement, followed by an intense heart-to-heart with Peacemaker. Vigilante went to meet his alternate self, who is exactly like him with one tiny difference: the Vigilante of DC2 considers Peacemaker his arch-enemy, and that’s why he joined the Sons of Liberty, a terrorist organization.

John Economos (Steve Agee) and Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), meanwhile, hang back at Peacemaker’s house and end up cleaning up the wreckage Eagly left in the fridge. That done, Adebayo decides to take a walk, which is when everything goes wrong. Almost immediately, someone in the neighborhood freaks out and starts pointing at her. Then Keith (David Denman), Peacemaker’s brother, sees her, pulls over and starts yelling “a Black.” And the episode ends with Adebayo running away from a crowd of white people chasing her down the street.

That’s far from the only thing that goes down, though. Economos ends up pinned to the floor, a knife in his hand, having told Peacemaker’s father Auggie (Robert Patrick) pretty much everything. And Peacemaker — as many fans also suspected — unfurls an American flag and sees a swastika in place of the stars on the field of blue, after Harcourt points out it’s weird there are no people of color in this dimension. Oh, and Harcourt from DC2 tells ARGUS to arrest our Harcourt.

So, look. Is it a bad thing that everyone guessed this twist pretty much from the first episode? And has talked about it incessantly since then? Not necessarily. It just means that the series telegraphed the twist correctly so we were able to read the clues in context. The trick will be how this twist plays out in the final two episodes, particularly when it comes to wrapping up Peacemaker’s emotional arc. If this pushes that forward, and ends in a satisfying way? Great. On the other hand, if it’s just an excuse to see Peacemaker and friends kill a whole ton of Nazis?

…You know what, that’s fine, too. We’ll know more very, very soon.
