Terminator Gets A Christmas Special:
You’ll be saying “Hasta Feliz Navidad” this holiday season with The Terminator: Santa Claus is Coming to Town one-shot from Dynamite. Written by Paulina Ganucheau with art by Kendall Goode, the special issue is 28 pages of tales asking the most pertinent question of our time: is Santa Claus a T-1000?
In the issue, set in the far future where Skynet has taken over the world, the human resistance remembers Christmas, per PR, “in between drone attacks.” And some of the resistance kids have a lot of questions about Old St. Nick.
“To these youngest in the vigilantly surviving human race, the stories of the jolly old man in his ruby-red robes who infiltrated the homes of everyone across the globe are especially intriguing,” reads a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “How did he avoid the sentries and guard dogs? What kind of exfiltration techniques was he using? Did he have glowing red eyes to match his fur-trimmed hat? How different was he from the hulking, mechanical monsters now advancing on their positions?”
The Terminator: Santa Claus is Coming to Town #1 hits stores in December.
Absolute Arkham Special Coming From DC:
In October, DC Comics is releasing its first Absolute Universe special with Absolute Evil #1, which brings together the villains of the alternate DC Universe. But they won’t be stopping there… As revealed by Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder, coming soon is an Absolute Arkham special, as well.
The news comes via the latest edition of Snyder’s newsletter, which includes a ton of information about his plans for Absolute Batman. Said Snyder, “We’re going to be announcing soon, so I guess I’m spoiling it, but we have an Arkham special, Absolute Arkham. It’s me and Frank Tieri writing it. And it’s Josh Hixson of The Deviant and just an unbelievable artist. And it’s straight up horror, but it gives like a real surprise about Arkham. A couple of big surprises. So I can’t wait for you to see that.”
In the continuity of Absolute Batman, Snyder has introduced “Ark M” outside Gotham City, one of many “Arks” or secret detention facilities littered around the world. In the Gotham one, Batman has found himself broken by Bane, and his friend Waylon Jones was changed into a giant crocodile, among other monstrosities.
Given that Snyder’s newsletter is transcribed from his speech, it’s possible the special could be titled Absolute Ark M instead of Absolute Arkham. But I guess we’ll wait until it’s announced, which definitely didn’t just happen the second Snyder mentioned it.
Mad Cave To Publish Vincent Van Gogh Biography:
Here’s some news that perked up our ear: Mad Cave Studios will publish Vincent Van Gogh: Sadness Will Last Forever, a graphic novel biography of the artist.
Per ICv2, this will be the first English edition of the book, which was created by Italian writer Francesco Barilli and artist Sakka. Rather than a straight biography, the story is told as “a dialogue between Van Gogh and his own mental illness.”
Originally published by ComiXology in 2023, the Mad Cave print edition will hit stores on February 24, 2026. Sounds like a blast!
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And boy, can’t wait until Scott Snyder announces that special.
