Clover Press just dropped another great project with The Complete Dick Tracy, a collection of Chester Gould’s classic strips. And while the project is live on Backerkit now, we’ve got an exclusive look inside the new editions.
“Blending outlandish characters and humor with hard-boiled noir crime, Dick Tracy has delighted fans for years,” said Clover Press Publisher Hank Kanalz via press release. ”Creator Chester Gould wrote and drew the daily strip until 1977, crafting the world of Dick Tracy and creating many iconic supporting characters like Mumbles, The Mole, Flattop, and Tess Trueheart that make Tracy the beloved character he is today. The new Clover Press editions collect the seminal strips that originally ran from 1941 to 1944.”
In addition to the classic strips, there are contemporary art covers by Jerry Ordway, Stewart Kenneth Moore, J.K. Snyder III, and Juan Jose Ryp, as well as slipcase artwork by David Mack. And the best part? Backers will get all four volumes, and can choose between various add-ons.
The books will measure 11″ by 8.5″, and collect every strip between 1941 and 1944. There will also be a vertical slipcase featuring new art from David Mack and Stewart Kenneth Moore.
The Complete Dick Tracy is now live on Backerkit. Check out the exclusive images below, and click for larger versions:
