‘WTF Is A Podcast’ Graphic Novel Hits Kickstarter, Already Raises Over $100,000

WTF is a Podcast graphic novel

Marc Maron’s hit podcast WTF is ending this Fall, but in advance of that seismic shift in the world of podcasts, you can pledge the Kickstarter for WTF is a Podcast, the official graphic novel history. And a lot of people already have: as of this writing, the project already has over $100,000 against a $5,000 goal.

Published by Z2 Comics, WTF is a Podcast is created by Maron’s producer Brendan McDonald and cartoonist Brian Box Brown. It recounts the history of the show, from 2004-2025.

“The success of WTF still seems unreal to me, so it makes sense for the definitive story to be told by a great cartoonist and Box Brown is the perfect guy to do it,” Maron said via press release. “This is a fantastic way for fans to relive the entire run of the podcast without needing to listen to thousands of hours of material again.”

Here’s the more interesting part (in my opinion): the project was already funded before it even got to Kickstarter. Instead, Z2 is using it as a launch platform to “provide fans access to special one-of-a-kind items, direct from Marc’s garage as he disassembles and says goodbye to the WTF studio once and for all.”

Those items? They are:

  • Rare Marc Maron gig posters from his personal collection
  • Rare Marc Maron Live CDs from his personal collection
  • Rare WTF water bottles
  • Rare WTF buttons
  • Rare WTF Cat Mugs
  • Rare MTV-STYLE WTF SHIRT signed by Marc Maron
  • Signed copies of Marc’s books Attempting Normal and Waiting for the Punch
  • The opportunity to be drawn into the graphic novel
  • A WTF windscreen from the WTF Podcast, used by over 200+ guests, signed by Marc Maron
  • A massive Ted Munz Light-up WTF Mosaic
  • The ON CAMERA COSTUME PROP HAT from the Joker movie – signed by Marc Maron – with the logo of The Murray Franklin Show.
  • And, the most unbelievable tier of all… the opportunity to be a guest on your own dedicated WTF episode, interviewed by Marc, himself!

Unfortunately, by the time you’re reading this, it may already be too late. As of this writing, the cat mugs, original artwork by Brown, the mosaic sign and the opportunity to be a guest are all sold out. Gotta grab those water bottles quick!

The Kickstarter is open until October 4, 2025.
