Spyder Wytch, Spyder Wytch, does whatever a spider… Twitch? I dunknow, we’ll workshop that one. And we have time, as Jason Aaron and Mahmud Asrar’s Bug Wars won’t continue with The Spyder Wytch Special until January of 2026.
“The wild ride through the Yard has just begun. There’s so much more about the kingdom of the Mytes that Mahmud and I are excited to explore,” said Aaron via press release. “The Spyder Wytch Special will feature various stories focused on the mysterious witches of the spider sect. After that, we’ll return to the chronicles of the Slaymaker family with Book Two. In other words, there are a lot more murderous bugs and tiny sword wielding warriors still to come.”
Added Asrar, “Our efforts from the last couple of years swarmed together and presented in one big collection. A wild way to start on our journey with Slade and his family in the world of Bug Wars.“
In the tarantula-sized one-shot, the duo will deliver, per PR, “stories of the mysterious and deadly Spider Sect, including the adventures of the exiled warrior sorceress, Wysta the Wayward Wytch.” Helping Asrar on art will be Baldemar Rivas, who has previously worked on DC’s Two-Face, and the upcoming Godzilla Vs. Kansas City.
Curious about the whole Bug Wars thing? You can find out all about it when the Bug Wars: Book One trade paperback hits comic book stores on October 8. In it, young Slade Slaymaker discovers a whole world is outside in his backyard, full of dangerous, warring insect factions — most of whom want to kill his brother.
Bug Wars: The Spyder Wytch Special #1 hits stores in January 2026. Check out the cover below.
