This is Comic Book Club News for August 26, 2025.

Marc Maron’s WTF Becomes Graphic Novel:

Back in June, Marc Maron announced he was ending his podcast WTF after 16 years. But before it wraps up, the podcast is becoming a graphic novel from Maron and Z2.

Titled WTF is a Podcast, the book will cover two decades of podcasts and guests, adapted by Maron’s “partner-in-crime” Brendan McDonald, alongside artist Brian Box.

The project will launch on Kickstarter on September 4, which likely means that the graphic novel will release after the final episode of WTF this fall. In addition to the standard edition, the Kickstarter will offer, per The Beat, “oversized deluxe editions, and a limited number of signed Platinum editions available, as well as special one-of-a-kind items, direct from Marc’s garage as he disassembles and says goodbye to the WTF studio once and for all.”

Previously, Z2 has collaborated with musicians including Iron Maiden, Weird Al, Sublime, and many more.

Chip Zdarsky Introduces New Captains In Captain America:

Not content with introducing just one new Captain America of the 2000s, writer Chip Zdarsky will be bringing the title character of Marvel’s Captain America into the present in issue #6. And when Cap arrives there, he’ll meet brand new captains, including Captain Kingdom and Captain France.

Drawn by Frank Alpizar and Delio Diaz, the new characters will be heroes representing the five permanent member countries of the United Nations Security Council. Per PR from Marvel:

  • CAPTAIN KINGDOM, representing United Kingdom
  • CAPTAIN FRANCE, representing France
  • RED WIDOW, representing Russia
  • THE STAR, representing China

In the aftermath of One World Under Doom, the “United Captains” will join together to make sure Latveria doesn’t fall into chaos, though it seems like the other Captains don’t have the same motivation as our Cap. Also, there’s already a Captain Britain, so one wonders if there will be any words with Captain Kingdom?

Captain America #6 will hit stores on December 17.

Abrams To Release Billy Bat:

Abrams ComicArts is keeping the manga train rolling with their Kana imprint, thanks to the recently announced English-language publication of Billy Bat, the landmark “historical conspiracy thriller” from Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki.

If you’re not familiar, Billy Bat starts in America in 1949, and focuses on, per PR, “Japanese-American comics artist Kevin Yamagata, who returns home after serving under the Allied Forces in World War II. Kevin quickly becomes famous for his detective comic character, Billy Bat. However, his newfound success is soon overshadowed by a disturbing revelation—Billy Bat already exists in Japan. Fearing unintentional plagiarism, Kevin embarks on a journey to Japan to uncover the truth, only to find himself ensnared in a tangled web of murders, secret societies, and prophetic mysteries spanning millennia.”

Urasawa and Nagasaki are the masterminds behind Monster, 20th Century Boys, and Pluto, three of the most lauded works of manga of all time. The first volume will be published in June of 2026, with the plan to ultimately release all 20 volumes of the series at the rate of four a year.
